These tasks are performed under the general direction of the Director of Facility Services. The Maintenance Technician may perform security rounds and check all buildings.The following description covers the most significant duties performed, but do not exclude other work assignments not mentioned:Completes work orders as assigned in a timely manner using discretion in cost containment, resource utilization, and responsible safety practices.Responsible for demonstrating a thorough knowledge of departmental standards and goals at all times.Performs prescribed tasks effectively and in a timely manner in compliance with department and facility standards.Performs routine inspections and checks on facility equipment and structures in accordance with preventive maintenance directives.Maintains all documentation on hospital routine checks and preventive maintenance.Makes recommendations for any cost containment measures or improvements that could provide for better functioning of the department for the benefit of the hospital.Identifies needs for purchasing resources when appropriate.Attends in services and meetings as required.Reports or records all equipment discrepancies requiring maintenance attention. Identifies and reports all safety hazards to Safety Officer.Troubleshoots all equipment malfunctions using various test equipment.Assists skilled trades or mechanics in more difficult work, but performs routine maintenance with minimum supervision.Maintains a neat, clean, and organized work area.Maintains service equipment and tools in good repair and safeguards all equipment and tools, ensuring safety at all times.Handles all supplies in a cost-conscious manner.Tolerates disruptions of schedule, such as emergencies, etc.Is able to work overtime when assigned and when needed.Demonstrates a service excellence demeanor with emphasis on being positive, helpful, and courteous with coworkers, patients, families, and visitors.Recognizes and performs duties, which need to be performed, although not directly assigned.Demonstrates competence in daily scheduling of duties by completing tasks on time with little assistance or prompting from others required.Demonstrates effective communication skills, both orally and written.Performs all other duties as assigned.Successful completion of all applicable demonstrational competencies.Ability to work indoors or outdoors in direct sunlight.Ability to remain focused and alert.Ability to calculate basic math using fractions to read a tape measure.Ability to operate power tools (drills, saws, sanders, etc.).Ability to work on doorknobs.Ability to work and troubleshoot minor electrical problems.Ability to work and troubleshoot minor plumbing problems.Ability to write.Ability to effectively communicate.Ability to see (sufficient to read documentation and instructions, handwritten and typewritten material).Ability to hear (faulty bearings, etc.).Ability to detect potential or actual safety hazards (smoke, chemicals and other environmental threats).Ability to stand up from floor without assistance.Ability to reach above head level and work.Ability to lift or move approximately 50 pounds.Ability to climb a ladder and work from elevated heights.Ability to stand for long periods of time.Ability to perform physical aspects of CPR and maintain active certification in Handle with Care at all times.Sufficient flexibility and dexterity to be able to move quickly (to prevent harm, to stop harm that is occurring, to avoid being hit by punches or kicks, etc.).Capability of performing sustained physical exertion (struggling to control a combative patient for extended periods of time may sustain significantly increased heart rate and respiration throughout that time with no rest period available).Ability to kneel for long periods of time.Please apply to become part of our team as we set out to be the provider of choice for psychiatric services.#J-18808-Ljbffr
