They also support the development of new therapeutics by providing antibodies such as IgY for use in clinical trials.Primary Responsibilities:
- Perform a wide variety of complex skilled tasks to assist in the daily repair and preventive maintenance of physical plant and expansion projects, including carpentry, masonry, electrical, heating/air-conditioning, plumbing, painting, mechanical and floor/wall coating installation.
- Perform specialized electrical, plumbing or HVAC/boiler inspection and maintenance tasks.
- Operate maintenance equipment and power tools; maintain hand tools and assigned equipment; perform preventive maintenance on equipment.
- Examine machinery and equipment to diagnose trouble using basic mechanical tools and equipment. Disassemble machines and equipment and adjust, replace or repair broken or defective parts and pieces.
- Inspect completed mechanical repairs for quality, safety, and proper operation,
- Perform equipment calibration and preventive maintenance procedures as directed.
- Perform monitoring functions, basic operating functions and troubleshoot malfunctions using the Building Automation System.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance repairs, services, permits, and licenses.
- Gather information on maintenance equipment, parts, and products as needed.
- Respond to emergencies as needed. Provide 24-hour on-call maintenance coverage, as scheduled in rotation.
- May operate yard equipment such as tractors and pallet jacks.
- Take proper safety precautions and utilize appropriate safety gear/equipment in the performance of all duties.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned.
Job Conditions and Physical Effort:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
- The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and confined spaces, and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation, and vibration.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- This position requires participation in 24-hour on-call rotating duty.
- Occasional domestic travel.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.) or equivalent. Additional training/education in HVAC preferred.
- Three to five years related experience in building construction/maintenance/commercial light industrial equipment maintenance.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Must be able to read and interpret basic maps and blueprints. Specialized experience/ license in HVAC preferred.
