- Performs routine preventative maintenance, service, and minor repair work on automotive, light equipment, heavy truck, and off-road equipment
- Procurement and inventory control of parts, equipment, and supplies.
- Performs general labor work and other similar work assignments.
REQUIREMENTS
- High school graduate (or GED equivalent).
- Two (2) years current full-time paid experience in maintenance, service, and minor repair of automotive and light/heavy truck and off-road equipment (such as loaders, backhoes, graders, trucks with one-ton or more capacity, etc.).
- Must have at the time of application, and maintain, a valid Michigan driver license with a good driving record (based on City of Troy standards).
- Will be required to maintain a commercial driver license (CDL), including air brakes (A) and (N) endorsement, and Medical Card as required by the State of Michigan before initial probation is complete and maintain the certification throughout employment.
- Must obtain a State of Michigan Master Automobile Mechanic Certification before initial probation is complete and maintain the certification throughout employment.
- Applicants must meet LEIN (Law Enforcement Information Network) security standards in order to have access to the Police Department.
- To be considered, present City of Troy employees must apply, meet the above requirements, have completed their probation or review period, and have received a satisfactory score on their most recent performance evaluation.
PREFERENCES
- Recent experience in preventative maintenance service to a diverse fleet of vehicles and equipment.
- ASE Master automotive certification.
- Training in vehicle/equipment maintenance from a vocational or trade school.
- Current CDL (Commercial Driver's License).

- Applicants must receive at least a score of 70 on the interview to be placed on the eligible list.
- Successful applicant to be appointed within eight (8) weeks of being awarded the position.

HOURS Current shift is Monday - Friday, 4:00 pm - 12:30 am. Overtime is required at times; employees should work at least 50% of offered overtime.
