Maintenance Technician Part Time Position SummaryThe Maintenance Technician performs general maintenance tasks and repairs to the Kiwanis Foundation building including tenant spaces. This position reports to the Facilities Manager and works closely with the Facilities Coordinator.Kiwanis Club of Ann Arbor FoundationThe Kiwanis Club of Ann Arbor Foundation is not-for-profit (501(c)(3) organization with the mission to generate and effectively manage our resources to provide for the needs of people, primarily children and families in Washtenaw County, and in so doing to promote diversity, collaboration, financial and environmental stewardship in harmony with the mission of the Kiwanis Club of Ann Arbor. Kiwanis International helps kids around the world.Key Responsibilities and DutiesAssist the Facilities Team in routine maintenance, repairs, and improvements of building spaces, utilities, equipment, vehicles, and groundsRoutine janitorial and housekeeping tasks for day to day building useAssists with maintaining facility security systemsAssists with movement of materials within the Kiwanis Center when neededAssists with setting up and breaking down needed materials and spaces for eventsAssists in closing procedures, and opening when facility opens to the public Fri/SatAssists with tending to maintenance needs of building tenantsProvide coverage during operating hours in case of manager/co-worker unavailabilityRelate to volunteers, organization participants, staff in a friendly, courteous mannerPerforms other tasks as assigned by the Facilities ManagerPreferred Skills and QualificationsBasic understanding of utility systems, including plumbing, electrical, HVACBasic understanding of commercial/residential construction applications and materials: interior and exterior, wall systems, flooring, doors and locks, windows, concrete, ceilings, lighting, fixtures, landscaping, etc. Comprehensive experience with hand and power tools and safe use practicesAbility to comprehend design plans and translate to constructive processAbility to lift 50+ pounds, with an emphasis on safe form and procedureAbility to safely climb and work on ladders, scaffoldingAbility to safely drive and load materials in various vehicle types as neededAbility to perform physical tasks and sustain work effortAbility to stand and be moving on foot for majority of the dayAbility to work well with others, attentive to the safety of self and others in a workspaceAbility to independently coordinate tasks and available resources to achieve objectivesAbility to work outside, in all weather conditions when neededPossess good verbal, written and internet communication skillsPossess attention to detail, with an emphasis on good workmanship and full completion of a given task. Ability to work weekdays and occasional Saturdays as needed, variable hoursSchedule: Twenty hours per week, with the ability to work flexible days.
