Job Description:

Schedule/travel: Full-time calendar year position. The typical schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm (includes a ½ hour unpaid lunch period). Additional hours may be required. Schedule may vary according to the Department and Kent School needs.Position Summary:Performing a variety of general building services including but not limited to: repair, operation, general upkeep and maintenance of all of the School's buildings. Looking for a candidate with strong plumbing skills.Specific Duties and Responsibilities include:•Perform basic building repairs such as plumbing, carpentry, painting, plastering, drywall, taping, electrical and HVAC.•Maintain, organize and properly store all required tools and equipment; Responsible for proper use of hand and power tools, ladders, personal protective gear, etc.•Repair of broken, loose, or missing hardware in housing units.•Conduct daily routine work orders.•Moving /transporting furniture, equipment and supplies in/around building(s) and grounds in the course of executing the duties.•Document/report all building related issues to supervisor, including all safety/operational issues.•Communicate with the supervisor on the status of various tasks and projects.•Performs other duties as needed and assigned.Qualifications:A High School degree or a combination of education and work experience in related fields, preferably in an independent school environment.The ideal candidate will:•Possess basic knowledge of hardware equipment, and materials such as drywall, tile, plumbing, electrical, etc.•Able to utilize a variety of materials and tools.•Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, working with various audiences (Faculty, Staff, and Students)•Possess the ability to prioritize, multi-task, and manage time effectively.•Works well under pressure.•Able to work independently and make sound decisions with flexibility/adaptability and have a calm demeanor.•Show flexibility and adaptability; willingness to help team members if needed.Physical Requirements:The physical demands listed below are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job:•Requires employees to be on their feet for extended periods, and climb stairs.•Ability to lift and transport up to 50 lbs. without assistance.•Satisfactory physical ability to perform manual labor work indoors and outdoors, at times under adverse working conditions.•Sufficient manual dexterity to use small hand and portable tools, and to perform simple mechanical tasks.Additional Requirements:•Successful completion of post-offer, pre-employment criminal background checks and drug test.•Maintain punctual and regular attendance.•Work is performed on a smoke free campus.Additional information:The essential functions and basic skills have been included.
