JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Penn State Beaver is searching for a Maintenance Worker (General) C to join their team. Duties include:
  • Assist the Maintenance Mechanics in the performance of duties by handing tools, holding materials, cleaning work areas, changing filters in heating and ventilating systems, etc.
  • Operate tractor and power lawn mowers to cut grass
  • Assist in planting and transplanting shrubs, trees, grass, etc.; rake and shovel soil; weed and clean flower and shrub beds, etc.
  • Rake and remove leaves; pick up paper and other debris; rake, sweep and remove cinders, dirt and debris from walks, roads, parking lots and lawns, using power and/or hand tools as required
  • Shovel snow and chop ice; spread cinders, sand, and other anti-skid materials on walks, roads and parking areas; operate power snow removal equipment
  • Sweep walks, driveways, and parking areas; clean catch basins and road drains
  • Assemble tables, platforms, etc. and rearrange or move furniture for social events or activities
  • Clean assigned areas of building such as sweeping and mopping floors, corridors, stair towers, cleaning toilet rooms, vending areas, etc.
  • Wash windows inside and outside
  • Operate powered janitorial equipment such as scrubbing and buffing machines, vacuum cleaners, etc.
  • Replace burned out light bulbs both interior and exterior and clean fixtures
  • Load and unload trucks; store items as instructed; report damaged items to supervisor
  • Unlock and lock building entrances and room doors as assigned; close and lock windows; turn out lights
  • Operate University vehicles
Job Requirements: Requires the use of simple writing, adding, subtracting, whole numbers and the carrying out of instructions; and the use of fixed gauges and direct reading instruments and devices in which interpretation is not required. Up to 3 months of effective experience. Work Schedule: 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Days Off: Saturday, Sunday NOTE: THIS POSITION REQUIRES THAT YOU OPERATE A MOTOR VEHICLE AS A PART OF YOUR JOB DUTIES. A VALID DRIVER`S LICENSE AND SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF A MOTOR VEHICLE RECORDS CHECK WILL BE REQUIRED IN ADDITION TO STANDARD BACKGROUND CHECKS.
