Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Golf Course Supervisor. - Maintains rough, greens, and fairways on golf course; mows course; removes debris from course and cart paths.
- Changes pin placement holes on greens.
- Rakes sand traps using motorized equipment.
- Maintains ball washers and tee boxes; paints as needed.
- Spreads grass seeds on course as needed.
- Maintains interior of club house during cold weather; lays out protective tarps over greens to prevent cold weather damage; removes trees and stumps when course is empty due to weather.
Typical QualificationsEducation and Experience: High school diploma or GED and moderate experience in general landscaping work, golf course maintenance, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Thorough knowledge of related industry, organization, and department policies, practices, and procedures; thorough knowledge of related industry organization, and departmental legal guides, recommendations, best practices, ordinances, and laws; comprehensive knowledge of the methods, tools and equipment required to maintain golf course greens, fairways, roughs, and cart paths; thorough knowledge of the operating and maintenance requirements of power mowers and allied equipment; general knowledge of and skill in the proper methods of planting, cultivating, watering and trimming greens, tees and fairways; some knowledge of the characteristics of the various kinds of grasses used in golf courses and of the means of controlling grass diseases and pests; ability to work outdoors in year-round; ability to develop and maintain an effective working relationship with associates, supervisors, and the general public. Physical Requirements: This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting, frequently requires standing and reaching with hands and arms and occasionally requires walking, using hands to finger, handle or feel, climbing or balancing, pushing or pulling, lifting and repetitive motions; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires operating machines, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work regularly requires working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to outdoor weather conditions and exposure to vibration and occasionally requires exposure to fumes or airborne particles; work is generally in a loud noise location (e.g. grounds maintenance, heavy traffic).
