The Maintenance Worker I works a 40 hour per week schedule with standard work hours ofMonday-Friday 7am-3:30pm (30 minute lunch). We are seeking to hire between the Min to Mid range of the pay grade shown dependent upon qualifications.Min $41,704.49 per yearMid $50,045.39 per year Max $58,386.29 per yearFor application support, or to check the status of your application, contact Human Resources by e-mailing Examples of Duties Cleans, repairs, and maintains roads, bridges, medians, right of ways, alleys, curbs, gutters, sidewalks, and other public areas within the CityPerforms routine and repetitive physical strenuous tasks such as working on a laydown machine spreading asphalt; handwork on hot asphalt as it is poured; loading and unloading trucks; laying pipelines and repairing manholes; patching pot holes and overlaying of streets; sealing cracks in asphalt and concrete; remove and replace concrete to include form setting to finishing; reading grades and setting grade stakes; assisting in surveying; cutting brush, trees; mowing and weed-eating high grass and weeds; and maintaining, cleaning around street intersections, medians, alleys; installing and repairing street and traffic signsOperates, repairs, and maintains various equipment, vehicles, and tools such as tractors, mowers, front end and back end loaders, heavy trenchers, street sweepers, bucket trucks, augers, maintainers, blades, jackhammers, skill saws; drills; bolt cutters; pothole patchers, rollers, dump trucks, motor graders, 1 ton to 5 ton vehicles, etc.Works safely when working in close proximity to high-speed vehicle traffic areas, along medians, and right-of-waysIdentifies and informs supervisor of potential hazards, liability exposures, problem areas, public inquiries of the general public, and the status of work activitiesConducts daily inspections and preventative maintenance measures of vehicles, equipment, and tools such as washing, checking safe and proper operation, and servicingAssists other departments, as neededAdheres to departmental, personnel, and safety rules and regulationsTypical Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSHigh School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)Currently hold, or must obtain within one (1) year of date of hire, a class D Water Distribution License from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ)Valid Texas Class C Driver's License - driving record must be in compliance with City policy PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSWater distribution, wastewater collection, street maintenance (concrete and asphalt) repair or construction work experienceLight to heavy construction equipment operation experience SPECIAL REQUIREMENTSMay be required to lift up to one hundred (100) pounds of equipment multiple times a dayMay work extensive hours and must respond within forty-five (45) minutes to an on-call or emergency callback, as required May be required to pass a drug screen and/or pre?employment job performance assessment 2022-2023 Full Time Employee Benefits Summary Retirement benefits provided through the Texas Municipal Retirement System. Mandatory contributions via payroll deduction - employee contributes 7% and the City matches 2 - 1. Term Life Insurance plan of $20,000 paid for by the City of Murphy. Supplemental coverage is available for purchase by the employee. Medical/Dental/Vision insurance. City pays the full premium for employees and provides a 50% premium contribution for qualified dependents. PPO plan with Blue Cross Blue Shield, Dental plan with Ameritas and Vision plan with VSP. Benefits are deducted pre-tax, see table below for rates. Telemedicine, including a behavioral health component, fully funded by the City of Murphy Flexible Spending Health and Dependent Care accounts available for employee contribution. Long-term disability insurance paid by the City of Murphy. Identity Protection plan available through My ID Care. Longevity pay: All full-time employees receive $4.00 per month for each year of service beginning the month following the first full year of service. Employee Assistance Program provided free to employees and family members. Vacation: Two weeks (10 days) annually through the first five years, three weeks (15 days) annually from 5 years to 10 years, and four weeks (20 days) annually for 10 years of service and beyond. Time accrues incrementally each pay period. Sick time: Two weeks (10 days) annually - accrued incrementally each pay period. Time can be rolled over each year to a maximum of 720 hours. 10 paid holidays per year. Deferred Compensation Plan (457) offered by Mission Square.
