Job Type Full-time Description Rate: $20.38 hourly Full benefits package includes: MO Lagers Pension, medical, dental, life insurance, long-term disability and various voluntary benefit plans Major Duties and Responsibilities Performs a variety of routine, semi-skilled tasks in relation to given assignments within a specific Department and/or Division Performs tasks consisting of manual labor on behalf of the City
- Works in conjunction with, and under the supervision of, the assigned Foreman, and/or Crew Leader or Maintenance Worker II overseeing a given task
- Performs all required manual tasks needed to complete work orders
- Maintains understanding and usage of tools and light equipment needed for work assigned
Performs tasks relating to specific Department and/or Division assigned Street Division, Public Works Department, requirements include, but are not limited to:
- Maintains and repairs City's streets and roadways
- Drives a dump truck with manual transmission
- Responds to emergency call-outs for snow removal
- Enforces all City ordinances related to the Street Division of the Public Works Department
Sanitation and Health Division, Public Works Department, requirements include, but are not limited to:
- Picks up all animals running-at-large, having the potential to be a public nuisance or the potential to endanger the public health, safety and/or welfare
- Advises residents on how best to handle insect problems
- Advises and assist residents in baiting for rodents and resolving rodent problems
- Assists in operation and maintenance of kennel in a safe, clean, and humane environment for all animals under the City's care
- Keeps accurate records on animal adoptions, animal redemption, animals picked-up and disposed of, and animal bite cases
- Maintains familiarity with City Ordinances, policies, and procedures regarding Health Division activities
- Maintains familiarity with Wildlife Codes of Missouri Department of Conservation
- Investigates all trash, debris and weed violations on residential and commercial properties throughout the City
- Issues advisory letters, warning letters and court summons
- Checks to insure that all spay/neuter requirements have been met
- Cuts grass, weeds, brush and trees, when needed
- Cleans up abandoned properties
- Is subject to emergency call-outs as is periodically required
- Is subject to rotation on a monthly call-out of the Health Division
- Performs inter-office and door-to-door deliveries as required
Park Maintenance, Parks & Recreation Department, requirement include, but are not limited to:
- Mows and maintains park and open space areas such as baseball and soccer fields; mows weeds, leans and maintains tennis courts and nets.
- Drags ball fields; lines fields for games.
- Inspects, washes, and performs routine maintenance of park drinking fountains and restrooms.
- Sweeps, washes, paints, and repairs or replaces park tables and slabs.
- Performs minor semi-skilled interior building maintenance such as painting, plumbing, carpentry, and other unskilled and semi-skilled trades work.
- Performs routine maintenance on lawn and power equipment.
- Carries out the seeding, fertilizing, top dressing, soil conditioning, watering of the City's parks and open spaces under supervision of the City Forester.
- Operates tractors, mowers, jack hammers, trucks, buffers, washers, and other listed equipment as needed.
- Performs custodial work such as required and assigned, including: change light bulbs; sweep floors, mop, dump garbage and reline cans with liners; clean and sanitize restrooms and replenish supplies; empty ash cans; clean spills; clean drinking fountains, tables, walls, fixtures, light fixtures, etc.; wash windows, walls, metal and woodwork; clean rain gutters.
- Collects and disposes of solid waste from buildings and grounds; picks up litter from premises.
- Opens and closes, locks and unlocks facilities as needed.
- Assists in setting up and taking down equipment for various park and recreation programs, prepares facilities for park and recreation program use.
- Installs and maintains goal posts and nets for sports facilities, including soccer, volleyball, baseball, softball, tennis and basketball.
- Assists in the construction of new parks facilities, including clearing, grading, drainage, and foundation work.
- Keeps records of work completed.
- Maintain current skills and knowledge in the proper and safe techniques of building and grounds maintenance functions.
- Police Department, requirements include, but are not limited to:
- Performs custodial work such as required and assigned, including: change light bulbs; sweep floors, mop, dump garbage and reline cans with liners; clean and sanitize restrooms and replenish supplies; empty ash cans; clean spills; clean drinking fountains, tables, walls, fixtures, light fixtures, etc.; wash windows, walls, metal and woodwork; clean rain gutters.

Performs other duties as directed Requirements Education and Experience The person in this position must have a high school diploma or its equivalent. Ability to effectively meet and deal with the public; ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; ability to handle stressful situations is vital for this position. Licenses and Certifications A valid driver's license, and the ability to, within six months of hiring, obtain and maintain a Class B Commercial Driver's License with endorsement for Passenger/Bus is required for Health Division employees; and endorsement for Air Brakes is required for Parks and Street Division employees.
