- Performs skilled maintenance and repairs on structures, facilities, equipment, and other City-owned property in a variety of trade disciplines.
- Inspects and/or repair's street and drainage systems at frequent intervals to ensure that all aspects of the systems are functioning properly.
- Ensures the proper maintenance of equipment and tools by cleaning and checking equipment and tools after use.
- Performs routine inspections on assigned equipment and reports defects or needed repairs to their immediate supervisor.
- Performs required labor involved in construction and maintenance projects as part of a work crew, including pavement cutting, ditch digging, manhole and line cleaning, mowing, maintaining City owned property, laying pipe and backfilling.
- Operates a variety of power construction and maintenance equipment used in Stormwater Utilities.
- Operates a variety of light and medium-sized power construction and maintenance equipment used in Stormwater Utilities.
- Ensures all work performed adheres to established safety standards, building codes and regulations, and engineering standards where applicable.
- Performs preventive maintenance according to assigned schedules or when directed.
- Inspects, recognizes, and reports any detected deterioration, repair needs, and maintenance needs to supervisor.
- Assists other trades personnel in two (2) or more of the trade disciplines to provide essential knowledge, skills, and abilities in all trades utilized by the unit.
- May work in a variety of confined or enclosed spaces, i.e. ceilings, duct systems, baffle boxes, catch basins, etc.
- Performs other related job duties as assigned.
Emergency Declaration Status: Essential employees may be required to work during an undeclared emergency and/or declared emergency. On an incident-by-incident basis, the employee's department head will make the determination as to who will be required to work. Qualifications Education and Experience GuidelinesEducation and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent; and one (1) year of experience in an applicable trade discipline or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Qualifications:
- Possession of a valid, State of Florida Commercial Class B driver's license with air brake endorsement to operate a motor vehicle. Requirement exists at the time of hire and as a condition of continued employment; However, if CDL Class B requirement is not met, license must be obtained within one (1) year.

- Balancing: Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling while walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces. The amount of balancing exceeds that needed for ordinary locomotion and maintenance of body equilibrium.
- Crawling: Moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet.
- Kneeling: Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
- Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
- Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.
- Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
- Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. Occurs to a considerable degree and requires substantial use of upper extremities and back muscles.
