Must have experience in the trade skills in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, masonry or landscaping. May be required to obtain a restrictive spray license. GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOBUnder general supervision, performs all maintenance operational, logistic and construction trades and light electrical work in the City of Palm Bays' parks and facilities. Reports to the assigned supervisor. SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBLITIESESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Work involves the repairing of or leading in the planning and construction of fences, gates, walks, walls, buildings, pavilions and gazebos using carpentry or masonry tools. Performs preparation tasks and painting of buildings, tennis courts, basketball courts and other surfaces as needed, using roller, brush, and spray application. Installs, assembles and maintains playground equipment, picnic areas and other amenities in the department. Installs, assembles and maintains athletic field functions such as baseball mounds, bases, basketball goalposts, soccer goals, cricket pitches, etc. Uses light or heavy equipment for land clearing and grading. Repairs roofs on park buildings. Assembles equipment such as bleachers or prefabricated buildings or pavilions. Uses light equipment with attachments such as mowers, fertilizer and seed spreader, aerator, box blade, etc. Provides logistic support equipment, supplies, materials, and amenities. Performs groundskeeping duties as needed, such as landscaping, preparing fields for play, trim trees or shrubs, maintain flower beds, police grounds and dump trash cans, mow, weed-eat or edge, or prepare parks and facilities for special events. Performs herbicide & pesticide spraying as required. Assists skilled trade workers in the maintenance and repair of parks and facilities such as plumbing, carpentry and painting. Maintains ballfields by repairing fences, edging and mowing grass, dragging and raking clay infields, fertilizing and applying insect controls. Repairs, assembles and installs picnic tables, grills, trash can holders and signs. Assist with installing, operations and maintaining irrigation systems. May be required to transport equipment. Required to complete any special assignments which are given by the supervisor/foreman. Inputs information to supervisor for daily and weekly schedules and budget preparation. Additional coverage is available at the employee's cost.Short Term Disability: Coverage pays 66 2/3% of employee's annual base salary during a short-term disability period not to exceed 26 weeks.Long Term Disability: Coverage pays 66 2/3% of employee's salary at time of disability after a 180 consecutive day waiting period.Defined Contribution Retirement Plan: City contributes a base of 3%. Employees may contribute up to 6% and the City will match the employees contribution.Holidays: 10 holidays,1 birthday holiday and 1 anniversary holiday.Paid Leave: Accrue 96 hours of vacation per year, accrued hours increase after 5 years of service based on years of service. Accrue 96 hours of sick leave per year.Tuition Reimbursement: Upon completion of the initial probationary period, employees are eligible for tuition and book reimbursement for college level courses for Associate's, Bachelor's and Master's Degrees.
