Job Description:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Perform vacant unit turnover and debris removal.
  • Assist with furniture pick-up and transportation.
  • Perform preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance work which includes, but is not limited to, carpentry, plumbing, and electrical repairs.
  • Organize and prioritize maintenance requests.
  • Oversee building interior and perimeter to ensure cleanliness and security.
  • Respond swiftly to emergencies throughout the building.
  • Order supplies on-line.
  • Coordinate and cooperate with all hotel staff, outside contractors, and tenants.
  • Provide janitorial support and front desk coverage, as needed.
  • Record incidents in hotel logbook and write observation reports, as needed.
  • Adhere to compliance requirements outlined in regulatory agreements and/or other legal documents, including but not limited to the proper storage of hazardous and flammable materials.
  • Follow building safety procedures at all times.
  • Assist facilities at other hotels and agency sites as assigned.
  • Attend all meetings as scheduled and participate in meetings as requested.

  • High School degree or equivalent strongly preferred.
  • Must have a minimum of 1 year of experience in professional building maintenance, or must have demonstrated maintenance skills while working in a non-maintenance position.
  • Must have a valid California Driver's License and a good driving record.
  • Must have demonstrated skill in the areas of plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and painting.
  • Must have knowledge of fire-safety and building codes.
  • Must have sufficiently good math skills to work with fractions and decimals, as well as the ability to compute ratios and percentages.
  • Must have an ability to read, understand, and apply language from manuals, policies, technical procedures, and instructions.
  • Must have demonstrated customer service skills.
  • Must read, communicate orally, and write in English.
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment with excellent attention to detail.
  • Must pass all post-contingency offer background checks, reference checks, and TB screening clearances.[1]
  • Experience working with diverse, low-income, homeless and/or formerly homeless population strongly preferred.
  • Experience working in non-profit or public sector preferred.
