Job Description:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for the general maintenance of buildings and premises in a professional and timely manner.
  • Maintain a professional attitude with staff, parents, children, volunteers and community persons at all times.
  • Work with Supervisor in designing a maintenance schedule for designated sites.
  • Responsible for maintaining the grounds, including but not limited to, watering, mowing, trimming and weed-eating.
  • Responsible for changing air filters in HVAC units and replacing light bulbs as needed.
  • Responsible for completion of Maintenance/Work requests in a timely manner and submitting completed orders to Supervisor.
  • Perform minor repairs, as necessary, to ensure safe buildings and premises.
  • Assist in moving supplies, furniture or equipment as needed for all programs.
  • Responsible for submitting monthly maintenance reports to Supervisor.
  • Assist in obtaining and documenting In-Kind.
  • Responsible for data management for designated areas.
  • Assist in the avoidance or appearance of fraud and ensuring compliance for designated areas.
  • NON- ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Respect confidentiality in all aspects of the Head Start program 2. Must be willing to participate in all training designed for professional development. 3. Able to handle stress, tension and exasperation that contact with many children and adults may bring every day. 4. May be called upon to administer first aid to children or staff at any time in the program. The incidental nature of this circumstance effectively establishes first aid as a collateral duty, rather than a primary one. 5. Perform other job-related duties as necessary for the overall operation of the program. JOB REQUIREMENTS: Educational Requirements:
    • High school diploma or GED.
    • Experience Requirements:
    • Experience in minor repairs with facilities and tools/equipment, lawn and building maintenance.
    • Must have a good driving record.
    • Six (6) months experience in related work field.
    • Physical Requirements:
    • Able to pass tuberculosis screening annually and initial health examination within first 3 months of hire.
    • Valid driver's license, access to transportation with liability insurance and willing to use vehicle for Agency related travel.
    • Able to travel out of area overnight to attend training or transport vehicles or equipment.
    • Able to hear and communicate orally with children and adults.
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
    • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Some items may occasionally exceed this limit, use necessary protective equipment and/or get help as needed.
  • Skill Requirements:
    • Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations.
    • Basic computer skills.
    • Ability to communicate with staff to complete repairs
  • Personal Traits:
    • Be in sympathy with the concepts of the Head Start Program.
    • Able to keep confidential information without inappropriately divulging it.
    • Have planning and organizational abilities.
    • Able to make decisions and work without continual close supervision.
    • Ability to prioritize needed repairs in a timely fashion.
