Preferred Qualifications
Two years facilities cleaning and maintenance experience is preferred or any equivalent combination of training and experience
Position Summary
This position performs manual work in the custodial care of Marine Extension Service buildings and facilities. This includes cleaning and minor maintenance work in the public aquarium, education classrooms/labs, cafeteria and dormitory and associated grounds. Primary responsibility is for the effective use of proper methods and materials in cleaning and caring for building areas and dormitory. Individual works under supervision of Facilities Manager within established routines and procedures.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
* Ability to understand written and oral instructions.
* Some knowledge of cleaning methods, materials and equipment.
* Ability to make minor repairs and adjustments to building fixtures and equipment.
* Ability to exercise care in the use of cleaning materials for different types of building surfaces.
* Possess a valid driver's license.
Physical Demands
* Ability to climb stairs and ladders; bend at the waist and knees; lift and move items weighing up to 50 lbs
* Work from a ladder and work with arms and hands overhead.
* Able to work in outdoor setting as needed (warm and humid) in addition to indoor duties.
