Under general supervision, performs a variety of work in the basic maintenance and repair

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

* Examines vehicles and confers with Management to determine malfunction and repairs desired.

* Refers major vehicle repairs to appropriate management.

* Removes and replaces parts of the ignition system such as spark plugs, points, coil, or alternator to complete tune-up or replace malfunctioning parts of the system.

* Repairs or replaces tires, brakes, belts, and hoses.

* Replaces defective chassis parts such as shock absorbers, ball joint suspension, brake pads, and wheel bearings.

* Have an excellent understanding of general maintenance of machinery, equipment, and vehicles owned and operated.

* Services vehicles and equipment to maintain the best possible condition

* Ensures that annual inspections are completed and are accurate.

* Maintains appropriate documents for DOT truck/equipment files.

* Has a plan/schedule to perform routine maintenance.

* Must maintain a valid driver's license and commercial insurability at all times.

* Other duties may be assigned.

Education/Experience:

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Math Ability:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Accounting software, automotive diagnostic software, and Inventory software.

Certificates and Licenses:

May be required to maintain a current weighing license and grain grading certificate. Must maintain a valid driver's license and commercial insurability at all times.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
