Northern Light HealthDepartment: FoundationPosition is located: Northern Light Home Care and Hospice BangorWork Type: Full TimeHours Per Week: 40.00Work Schedule: No Hours AssignedSummary:Northern Light Health Foundation Major Gift Officer for Foundation Relations identifies and cultivates foundation funders and develops high-effective grant proposals to advance Northern Light Health and its member organization initiative priorities including programming and capital. This individual works with system leaders, teams, and external partners from concept development to identifying, cultivating, and soliciting grant funding from foundation, and other sources to support program, capital, and research initiatives. They lead a dynamic portfolio of individual projects and provides mentorship, coaching and support with projects assigned to team members. The Major Gift Officer is a vital member of the Institutional Funding Team (IFT) and takes a lead role advancing system priorities through sponsored project development and management; and by qualifying best fit funding opportunities, developing compelling proposals and providing post award orientation and support to Northern Light Health clients. This individual will work closely with other grants and fundraising staff, member organizations, fiscal services, legal services, program sponsors, and community partners. The candidate must be able to work effectively in advance of deadlines and maintain a sense of humor and humility under pressure.Responsibilities:Serving as a grants strategy lead, conferring with Northern Light Health clients to understand system and member organization needs, and advance goals and priorities for external funding.Engaging with external partners and community stakeholders to collaborate in strategic partnership proposals while Ensuring staff establish and sustain positive and productive relationships with funding agencies and philanthropic organizations. Proposal writing, editing and review, prospect research and planning and budget development.Leading the development of complex proposals involving several contributors; Working within funder guidelines to write and prepare quality proposals that advance priority initiatives; Working in advance of deadlines to assure timely submissions and ensure effective engagement of grant services throughout the system while providing comprehensive post-award support to clients ensuring effective and timely grant deliverables and reporting to funders.Assures all team members understand Northern Light Health system priorities, initiatives, and recent awards that advance proposal development and Maintains knowledge of national objectives for healthcare reform and evidenced-based models of care to advance development of proposals that are responsive to funder interests.Ensures team members and business partners understand and follow system policies and practices that maximize the effectiveness of grant services and compliance with funder, including federal and state, grant requirements and manages individual projects as well as helps to coordinate complex projects managed by team members.Ensures the integrity of grants management database (AmpliFund) and additional tracking tools to monitor project and grant activity, develops and provides grant activity reports. Provides post-award grant management including funder reports, amendments, etc.Management (SAM), Grants.gov, NIH eRA Commons, GrantSolutions, HRSA eHandbooks, and others as necessary while consulting with clients, partners and system leaders on project prioritization and resourcing of high value, transformative initiatives. Provides consultation on the process of securing approvals to move projects forward for proposal preparation and submission to clients.Leads the proposal generation process, particularly for complex proposals with multiple contributors to produce compelling high-quality proposals and utilizes senior experience to facilitate collaborative partnerships. Contributes to the development and maintenance of grant/IFT intranet site as a high value resource to customers and the system. Serves as a lead grants strategy consultant that aligns with strategic plans and emergent priorities.Advances system priorities through the grant proposal process and participation in committees and task force(s) as assigned. Advances the development of the Grants Department through active engagement in department initiatives to improve population health.Coordinates with Marketing and Communications to ensure compliance with Northern Light Health standards for branding, and release of grant-related media coverage.Other duties as assigned.Prepares Request for Information (RFI) and/or Public Comment.Manages special projects, provides periodic progress updates as assigned.Assist Chief Officer and Director of Grant Services with staff recruitment, selection and orientation.Assists with budget development and deployment of resources.Serves as a meeting facilitator as needed.Other Information:Minimum of 5 years of successful experience.Proven track record developing complex federal, state grants and post-award grants support and compliance a must. Competency in federal grant management principles and practices (2 CFR, OMB Uniform Guidance) required.Additional experience with foundation and corporate grants, preferably within a healthcare setting.Project management expertise is a must.Possess a current driver's license and must have reliable vehicle for travel throughout the State of Maine.Flexibility working occasional weekends, evenings, or holidays.Competencies and SkillsAchieves Results: Sets high standards for their own outcomes and seizes opportunities to engage others towards objectives.
