Children of Promise, NYC (CPNYC) is celebrating 15 years. CPNYC is dedicated to supporting the unique needs of children with incarcerated parents, fostering their development and resilience. Our mission is to provide comprehensive services that enable children to thrive despite the challenges they face. As we approach our 15th anniversary, we are launching an extensive campaign that will help expand the brand. This campaign is pivotal in showcasing our impact and amplifying our mission.

Position Overview

CPNYC is seeking a dynamic and motivated Major Gifts Officer (MGO) to join our development team. The Major Gifts Officer will play a crucial role in securing significant financial support to advance our mission. This individual will be responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major gift donors and prospects. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in fundraising and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Donor Identification and Cultivation:

  • Identify and research potential major gift donors through various sources and methods.
  • Build and maintain relationships with current and prospective major donors, ensuring they are engaged with CPNYC's mission and programs.

Solicitation and Stewardship:

  • Develop and implement personalized strategies to solicit major gifts ($10,000 and above) from individuals and corporations.
  • Prepare compelling proposals, presentations, and other materials to support solicitation efforts.
  • Lead the Women s Professional Philanthropic Volunteer Committee
  • Ensure timely and effective stewardship of major gift donors, including acknowledgment, recognition, and ongoing communication.

Collaboration and Teamwork:

  • Collaborate with VP, development staff, and program teams to align fundraising efforts with organizational priorities.
  • Work closely with the board of directors and volunteers to enhance major gift initiatives.

Event Participation:

  • Participate in and support CPNYC fundraising events, including planning, execution, and follow-up activities related to major gift prospects and donors.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate records of donor interactions and contributions in the donor management system (Salesforce).
  • Provide regular reports on major gift fundraising progress, including metrics such as number of solicitations, gifts secured, and donor retention rates.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor s degree in a related field (e.g., Business, Communications, Non-Profit Management) preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in major gift fundraising or a related field. Proven track record of securing significant gifts.

Skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in donor management software and fundraising databases.
  • Understanding philanthropic trends and best practices.

Additional Information

  • Location: The position is based in either the Bronx or Brooklyn site. (Hybrid model 3 days onsite, unless there are client activities)
  • Travel: Some local travel may be required for donor meetings and events.

Compensation

It is commensurate with the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate. The salary range for this position is $75,000 - $85,000 annually.
