We are looking for a skilled, detail-oriented and experienced Manager - Business Development to join our team. This role reports directly to the SVP of Business Development. The Manager of Business Development provides project support to the Business Development Department in order to assist the Museum in monetizing its assets and programs. The ideal candidate is a leader who possess strong analytical skills, is a good communicator and has a problem-solving attitude. Experience in not-for-profit is a plus. Salary Range: $70,000 - $80,000. Assist and support SVP, Business Development in department functions including: Sponsorship/Partnerships • Conduct preliminary research to identify and prioritize potential corporate sponsors. • Maintain database of prospective corporate sponsors, including past and ongoing communication • Develop sponsorship proposals in coordination with other Museum departments for exhibitions, programs, events and other Museum activities, including but not limited to: o Kids Week Fleet Week o Free Fridays Astro Live o Education Programs Veterans Programs o Museum Spaces Digital Assets • Work in partnership with private events to develop relevant sponsorship opportunities • Participate in meetings with current and prospective sponsors • Coordinate and track corporate sponsorships, from contract execution to benefits fulfillment. • Develop high quality sponsorship reports in a timely manner in coordination with various internal departments. •Vendors and Concessionaires • Assist in the management of existing vendor relationships including: o Museum Store Museum Cafes o Photography partner Simulator partner • Ensure existing vendor relationships are meeting both financial goals and minimum standard requirements, including Museum's overall mission and content goals. • Assist in growing existing vendor relationship and developing new relationships with prospective partners to further the Museum's mission and goals. • Prepare regular reports relating to vendor performance • Participate in regular meetings with vendors regarding performance, initiatives, programs and opportunities •Other Duties and Responsibilities • Compose and prepare confidential correspondence, reports, and other complex documents. • Track contracts and other documents through the approval process, securing appropriate signatures. • Coordinate invoicing activity on behalf of Department, including the processing of purchase requisitions and invoices • Facilitate preparation and filing of Business Development related documents including contracts, term sheets and proposals. • Create and maintain database and spreadsheet files. • Follow up communications (phone, email & in person) with potential Sponsors, Partners and Vendors • Manage and execute benefits relating to current museum sponsors. Create letters, emails and summary reports for ongoing communications with sponsors. Capture sponsor elements on site via photography to include in various reports and presentations. • Conduct background research, internally or externally, as directed. • Performs other duties as required. Qualified candidates will possess Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university and four or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to work weekends, holidays, and other overtime as necessary.
