Quality Assurance Manager for the Energy Systems Business Unit / SMR AP300 product and projects. The Quality Assurance Manager will be responsible for leading AP300 quality assurance activities, providing support to project organizations, and overseeing the design finalization process. Responsibilities also include providing QEHS inputs for various bids and proposals, managing the SMR AP300 quality assurance program, and overseeing deliveries of services of significant scope. This individual will also, in the future, manage a staff of quality professionals for assuring effective implementation and maintenance of the Westinghouse Quality Management System for new plant projects.This position can be remote or hybrid with work locations on Cranberry, PA or Rock Hill, SC.
This position is not eligible for relocation or sponsorship.Duties and Responsibilities (in the order of priority): Manage a QA scope, including developing quality (and EHS) cost estimation for bids & proposals and risk identification. Perform and/or lead a team of QA engineers to perform a wide range of quality assurance & oversight functions, including further development and implementation of the Westinghouse Quality Management System, project quality plans and project procedures for New Plant Projects and the Energy Systems Business Unit. Becoming and project quality lead (manager) for early phases of SMR AP300 project(s), participating in design reviews, implanting internal audits and self-assessment Assure QA staff is appropriately trained and manage employee performance to achieve project objectives. Develop annual department budget and manage expenditures achieve budget projections. Maintain compliance with the Westinghouse Quality Management System for project preparation and execution compliance for SMR AP300 new opportunities, as well as for other new plants (AP1000, eVinci, etc.). Promote, nurture, and assure a mature and healthy Nuclear Safety Culture and Safety Conscious Work Environment across all the Business Unit locations. Drive safe, error free performance through active use and promotion of Human Performance tools and organizational learning. Communicate and implement quality assurance best practices through continuous improvement. Ensure rigorous programmatic oversight of specified activities. Recommend and implement solutions to quality problems, ensure swift and thorough corrective and preventive actions, and ensure solutions are communicated and implemented to appropriate stakeholders. Ensure effective change management, keeping clear and open lines of communication with other Quality organizations, leadership, regulatory agencies, customers, and suppliers, as appropriate. Interface with other intercompany Quality organizations to ensure compliance, process consistency and to share best practices and lessons learned.Education and Qualifications / Skills and Competencies: Education Level (Degree, Area of Study) - Minimum Requirement: BS degree or equivalent (preferably engineering / technical)Years of Experience (if applicable): 10 or more years of quality assurance experience required in positions of increasing responsibilityProfessional Certifications: Broad knowledge of nuclear quality assurance regulations, codes, and standards.Working knowledge of U.S. commercial nuclear power regulations, e.g., 10CFR50 Appendix B, ASME NQA-1, ASME B&PV Code, ANSI, 10CFR21, and comparable international regulations and standards (including ISO 9001 and ISO 19443) is preferred.Skills and Competencies: Experience in the application of Nuclear Safety Culture and Human Performance principles Knowledge of engineering, manufacturing, fabrication and testing work processes, general business acumen.Ability to travel internationally as projects require (up to +/- 10% for peak times)
