Job SummaryThe Automation Manager (AM) is a management position reporting to the Senior Manager, Automations Projects (SMAP) and is responsible for the technical and administrative aspects of all automation systems, passenger boarding bridges, elevator/escalators, electronic control systems, electro-mechanical control systems, generated power systems, automatic gates, reclaim water irrigation systems, lighting control systems and critical system fields in general for all landside and waterside facilities maintained by the Port. This position will work with the Senior Manager, Automation and Automation Supervisors to oversee and direct employees, provide hands-on management, provide training, and supervision including monitoring compliance with applicable standards and regulatory requirements. Must have demonstrated leadership skills, excellent technical skills, and a commitment to service excellence. The AM is responsible for managing, supervising, and coordinating activities in support of facilities maintenance and system maintenance including diagnostic review, upkeep, repairs, inventory, and preventive maintenance relating to all Automated Systems which may include areas such as docks, gangways, and mechanical plants. The AM will also schedule and directly manage Automation Controls Technician employees, vendors and contractor work while ensuring all work is performed efficiently, safely, and economically to meet and exceed Canaveral Port Authority operational requirements. This position also interacts and contributes with all other departments in the infrastructure and design stages of various projects and establishes automation projects with the Facilities department in mind.Essential Functions Plan, direct, and manage automated systems operation, maintenance, and repair. Participate, contribute, and help manage a system-wide CMMS program for the port Manage daily Automation work and systems. This includes passenger bridges, gangways, hydraulic security barriers, automatic gates, elevators, escalators, reclaim water systems controls, generators and power transfer switching and controls, LED lighting, LED lighting controls, electrical system controls, other automated systems, and miscellaneous support services. Negotiate service contracts to achieve efficient contracted services obtaining the best pricing for service needed. Plan, direct, and coordinate effective programs for energy conservation, utility management, health and safety, preventative maintenance, risk management, and disaster preparedness. Interpret and ensure compliance with applicable codes, rules and regulations. Provide timely and accurate written and oral reports as required by the Port. Implement and preserve sound maintenance practices for equipment and facilities through preventative maintenance programs and standard operating procedures. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with all Port Departments and business sectors - internal and external. Develop and coordinate the Port standards (such as quantity, quality and service) Manage the performance of outside contractors performing maintenance work to ensure successful completion of projects within the scope of work and contractual requirements. Ensure areas of responsibility operate effectively within the policies and procedures of the Canaveral Port Authority. Responsible for the supervision, training, automation training, recruitment, evaluation, development and discipline of personnel assigned to department employees in accordance with negotiated agreements, applicable state and federal laws and Port policies and procedures. Directs, coordinates, and supervises assigned departmental functions. Provides support in the development of short- and long-range planning activities Attends meetings and sits on various committees as assigned, including new construction contractor's meetings. Reviews reports, scheduling, training, and oversees the maintenance and care of all department equipment. During emergency conditions, all CPA employees are automatically considered essential employees and may be subject to recall. These events may include, but are not limited to, natural, man-made, or public health emergencies. Employees may be expected to perform emergency and/or recovery operations outside of their normal assigned responsibilities and routine working hours.Minimum Qualifications: Minimum 6 years' experience in the Facilities maintenance field, with strong electrical-mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, controls, diagnostic, and preventative maintenance background. Associate degree or higher in the industrial electricity/electronics field or similar degree preferred. Five years or greater experience as a maintenance supervisor or employee management position. Experience with employee evaluation and performance enhancing skills. Ability to work non-standard hours including evenings and weekends as well as on-call for emergency situations. Experience or knowledge with hydraulics, controls, and repair. Strong organizational and management skills including cost accounting, budgeting, with enhanced administrative duties., Exceptional interpersonal skills and proven ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Demonstrated success in working with teams, strong leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to be a creative problem-solver, a strategic-thinker and decision- maker. Excellent customer/department service, managerial, communication, and technical skills. Ability to operate standard vehicles, manlifts, scissor lifts, industrial and construction type equipment. Ability to operate standard office equipment to include computer, fax, copy machine, etc. Must possess proficiency in computer skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, CMMS databases, and other software. Experience in Port Operations and Maintenance is highly preferred.Minimum Standards:

- Possess a valid Florida Driver's License or the ability to obtain one within 30 days.
- Apprentice in electrical or electrical license a plus.
- Able to secure a Transportation Worker Identification Credential. (TWIC)
Physical Requirement:
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical.
- This is a Safety sensitive position.
- Physical agility required for climbing ladders, stairways, and narrow walkways with ability to bend stoop and work in confined areas.
- Requires keen audio-visual perception.
- Sufficient auditory ability to carry on conversations in person and over the phone and make presentations to large audiences.
- Sufficient visual acuity to read detailed drawings, recognizing words and numbers.
- Ability to operate standard vehicles, lifts, etc.
