As a people manager, you will have a shared responsibility with leadership to plan, strategically allocate resources, and inspire the Business Analysts team to deliver high-quality work to meet project deadlines, business goals, and Funds' operational needs.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participates in the recruitment process for new Business Analysts
- On-boards and trains the team of Business Analysts
- Coaches the team of Business Analysts
- Reviews the status of Business Analysts' projects on a weekly basis
- Assists in task prioritization and planning
- Addresses and/or escalates concerns and issues
- Validates their approach to the work is in accordance with best practices
- Reviews the work produced and provides feedback and ensure that it is delivered on in a timely manner
- Supports relationships with stakeholders
- Estimates both the effort and duration of the project
- Checks progress on specific projects
- Assesses how they manage their time
- Determines availability as a resource for other work; and
- Identifies synergistic opportunities to assist others
- Encourages growth in the team of Business Analyst through assignments, projects and mentoring
- Develops the standards, methodologies, tools, templates and knowledge repositories to be used by the team of Business Analysts
- Provides oversight of all data conversion and data analytics projects.
- Oversees the operations support of the applications managed by IT; coordinates batch scheduling and monitoring
- Establishes, develops and maintains positive effective working relationships with internal stakeholders and users of business analysis services
- Manages the relationship with other entities interacting with business analysis, namely, development, infrastructure, QA, training. and vendors
- Provides expert advice to projects and business stakeholders on solution design and evaluates alternative approaches
- Reports on the status of business analyst projects and escalates project level or staff concerns.
- Identifies opportunities for improvement to increase team's effectiveness and efficiency and develop action plans working with the business analysts and the Director, Business Analysts.
- Fosters cross-training among team members to eliminate single points of contact for technologies supported by the business analysts
- Works closely with team members to foster collaborative and effective working environment
- Works with Departments/Funds on a change or full project implementation, including direct ownership of a project as needed.
- Ensures coverage for business areas while staff are taking time off.
- Performs other duties as required
- Perform tasks after hours, on weekends, and as required by management/supervisory staff.
Supervisory Responsibilities: The Manager, Business Analysts supervises the day-to-day work of business analysts and works with the Director, Business Analysts to address performance management related issues. Conducts performance evaluation of staff that are timely and constructive. Assists with the discipline and termination of employees as needed in accordance with the Funds' policy. Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- At least three years managing the work of a team of Business Analysts
- At least ten years of solid and diverse work experience implementing technology and business solutions
- At least four to six years of experience with requirements gathering and analysis, business acceptance test planning, test case development and test execution
- Proven understanding of business analysis best practices
- Proven understanding of data analytics methodologies and best practices
- Proven understanding of project management and systems development methodologies
- Ability to recruit, coach, review the work of, and motivate teams
- Excellent MS Office skills including Visio, PowerPoint and MS Project;
- Systems thinking skills: able to predict and influence the behavior of any system through understanding of the underlying structure
- Critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Strategic capabilities: the ability and desire to think beyond immediate issues to consider the long-term and broader implications and clearly identify what needs to be done
- Highly effective written and oral communication skills
