Job Summary and QualificationsDemonstrates clinical competence to practice within Respiratory Scope of Care (see RRT- Respiratory Therapist specific elements description).
Responsible for management of the clinical services daily operations, including staffing, supply ordering / inventory, charge capture, daily reports, and documentation.
Oversees scheduling of technical staff. Reviews productivity via PLUS at a frequency to allow timely staffing decisions to achieve the least costly staffing mix and minimizing overtime.
Oversees the clinical quality of the Respiratory Care services being performed. Establishes and enforces department policies, procedures, Therapist Driven Protocols, regulations, and standards. Coordinates departmental CQI program, Outcomes management projects and other hospital initiatives as directed.
Responsible for program development including establishment, implementation and assessment of strategic plan.
Accountable for all phases of staff hiring and development including recruitment, orientation, retention, supervision, competency, and professional growth. Plans yearly education calendar and provides ongoing CEU educational activities and opportunities for staff members based on personnel needs, inventory, regulatory requirements, physician input, and the results of QI monitoring.
Oversees employee performance management plans for Respiratory Care, Cardiac Rehab, EKG, and Echo.
Coordinates and integrates services within the Cardiopulmonary departments and with other departments. Participates in appropriate hospital-wide committees where representation from cardiopulmonary is necessary.
Is a mentor and resource to staff, students, volunteers, and physicians on clinical issues and serves as a positive example to employees and patients.
Pursues own professional growth and development.
Provides additional leadership and support in absence of Director.
Other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience:
EXPERIENCE
Required - Current Virginia RN/Respiratory Therapy/Allied Health license. Two years critical care experience.
Preferred - One-year supervisory experience in an Allied Health department.
EDUCATION
Required - Graduate of accredited school of Nursing/Allied Health
Preferred - BS in Nursing, health sciences field or management.
CERTIFICATION
Required - BLS within 90 days of employment, ACLS within 180 days of employment
Preferred - PALS, NRP, CPFT
