Your Opportunity as the Manager, Controls Engineering - Engineering & Technical Services Organization (TSO)
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Manager, Controls Engineering - Engineering & Technical Services Organization (TSO) to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing plant project support and at times leading projects, establishing, and maintaining standards and best practices, engaging proactively with vendors for quicker resolution and new technology adoption, and providing corporate support for operations technologies. This role will also involve supporting the automation landscape, locating, and reapplying successful automation solutions, functioning as an expert for key technologies, and staying current on emerging operational technologies.
Location:
* Based at a JMS manufacturing plant or bakery
* Preferred locations: Orrville, OH; Arkadelphia, AK; Buffalo, NY; Columbus, GA; Decatur, AL; Emporia, KS; Lexington, KY; Longmont, CO; McCalla, AL; Memphis, TN; or New Orleans, LA
Work Arrangements:
* 100% on-site
* Travel - up to 25% to other manufacturing plants / bakeries
Reports To: Senior Manager, Automation & Controls
In this role you will focus in the areas of:
Plant Project Support
* Lead and manage controls engineering projects where the need is identified within the JMS network of plants, ensuring timely and successful completion
* Work closely with engineering and operations leaders to transition projects through CQV
* Provide power and controls support on capital initiatives when applicable
Standards and Best Practices
* Develop, implement, and maintain engineering standards and best practices to ensure consistency and quality across all projects
* Ensure compliance with national regulations (NFPA 70, NFPA 70s, NFPA 79, NEC, OSHA 1910)
Vendor Engagement
* Proactively engage with vendors to resolve issues quickly and explore new technologies that can enhance our operations
C&IS Support
* Provide C&IS support from a corporate side to operations, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives
* Support MES and IS Operations when priorities align
Automation Landscape Support
* Support the automation landscape, understanding current state and helping drive targeted improvements
Reapply Successful Automation
* Identify and reapply successful automation solutions across different areas of a plant or other sites to improve efficiency and productivity
Expert in Key Technologies
* Serve as the subject matter expert for key technologies, providing guidance and support to the engineering and operations teams
Stay Current on Emerging Technologies
* Continuously monitor and evaluate emerging operational technologies to keep the company at the forefront of industry advancements

What we are looking for:
Minimum Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Controls, or Chemical Engineering
* 8+ years of relevant controls experience
* 5+ years of manufacturing experience
* Ability to effectively engage, lead, and build capability with leadership, plant teams, and on the floor
* Strong knowledge of machine and/or process control hardware, instrumentation and software including Allen Bradley PLC and Rockwell FactoryTalk platforms
* Working knowledge of NFPA and OSHA guidelines related to electrical equipment and practices
* Experience learning and integrating new technologies
* Experience leading the installation of equipment
* Capital and/or project management experience
* Understanding of plant systems software (Proficy, Project Management, eAM, etc.)
* Strong organizational, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
Additional skills and experience that we think would make someone successful in this role:
* An Electrical Engineering degree
* FANUC robot and/or automation experience
* Mechanical and electrical experience in food manufacturing
* Experience leading the installation of equipment in food manufacturing environment
