Job DetailsJob TypeFull-timeDescription UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS FOUNDATION has an immediate opening for an Manager, Data Governance The University of Illinois Foundation (Foundation) is the official fundraising and private gift-receiving organization of the University of Illinois (University). It works closely with alumni and friends, faculty and staff, corporations and foundations, as well as campus development professionals to create fundraising programs and opportunities that benefit the University. The Manager, Data Governance ensures data quality and value across our organization. They translate complex data concepts into actionable insights, advocate for data-driven decision-making, and serve as a subject matter expert on advancement data. This role collaborates with university data experts, promotes data usage in strategic planning, and resolves data issues. The Manager, Data Governance empowers data users and contributes to intelligent decision-making.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee data domains, establish standards, and ensure data quality and compliance
- Engage with users to understand needs, promote data literacy, and improve data offerings
- Collaborate with data experts to align strategies and enhance data capabilities
- Identify opportunities to increase data value and propose innovative solutions
- Communicate data insights and recommendations to stakeholders at all levels
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Data Science, Business Analytics).
- 6+ Proven experience in data management, data governance, stewardship, data engineering or related roles.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets and harvest value from them.
- Familiarity with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and ethical considerations.
- Experience with data management tools and technologies, such as metadata repositories, ETL, ELT, tech stack, data fabric, API's, data quality tools, and data governance platforms.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree, with a preference for Computer Science, Data Management or Science, MIS, Data Engineering, or business major.
- Experience in higher education advancement data and applications.
- An understanding of advancement concepts and processes.
