Job Description:
Summary/ObjectiveThe Manager, Donor Research and Strategy is directly responsible for conceptualizing, planning, and administering a robust program of strategic donor research and prospect management for Philadelphia Ballet's Advancement Department, comprising Marketing and Development, including prospect identification and research, moves management, portfolio maintenance, reporting, and database maintenance. The Manager will oversee prospect research for Ballet leadership and frontline fundraisers, including both individual, foundation and corporate prospects and interfaces daily with members of the frontline fundraising team, providing assistance with portfolio management, research, and reporting.Essential Functions:
  • Research responsibilities include:
    • Proactively research existing donors and identify new prospects and create detailed profiles and reports as needed
    • In collaboration with Chief Advancement Officer (CAO) and Senior Director, Development, prepare plans and briefings for meetings and events
    • Create donor profiles for attendees of special events and other cultivation and stewardship activities
    • Prepare research lists of ticketholders in advance of performances for the development team
    • Coordinate regular wealth screenings through iWave and other platforms
    • Proactively research peer organizations' donors to expand the Ballet's prospect pipeline
    • In collaboration with the Associate Director, Foundations and Government Relations, support institutional research efforts as needed
    • Respond to individual research requests as needed
    • Implement and maintain effective procedures to support prospect research
  • Work closely with the frontline fundraising team to establish and implement effective processes for portfolio management, including analysis, rebalancing, documentation, and reporting.
  • Using Moves Management best practices process, direct pipeline meetings and reporting for effective coordination of cultivation and solicitation action steps for major gift prospects.
  • Oversee a data-based approach that ensures gift officers execute strategies that result in meaningful engagement and successful solicitation of prospects.
  • Generate and analyze data to identify opportunities for new fundraising efforts.
  • Support gifts officers, Trustees, and other frontline fundraisers in portfolio management by recording completed and pending cultivation, stewardship and solicitation steps
  • Maintain constituencies and other indicators to support audience segmentation
  • Implement and maintain effective procedures to support prospect management
  • Work on rotating performance duty schedule and participate in donor receptions and events, as required.

Supervisory Responsibility: NoneExpected Hours of Work: Regular business hours are Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand, particularly when the Ballet is in performanceTravel: Travel is primarily locally during the business day, although some out of the area travel and overnight may be expected.Required Education & Experience:
  • College degree or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience working in an office environment.
  • Experience working in a non-profit setting, preferably performing arts.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, PowerPoint applications.
  • Proficiency with Google forms.
  • Proficiency with database management.
