Job Description Brightspeed is searching for a Manager Engineering and Construction to join our team! At Brightspeed we are committed to being a leader in defining a new way to work because we recognize the changing mindset of today's workforce. As a Manager Engineering and Construction, you will be responsible for managing our Engineering and Construction team. Our Engineering and Construction team is responsible for building our network in each territory and will be in a highly visible position as well as being customer-faced. You will be responsible for Inside Plant and Outside Plant Engineering and will have direct reports that are a combination of Network Engineers, Sr Engineers, Program Managers, Specialists, and construction personnel. The Manager Engineering and Construction role requires 24 X 7 X 365 availability. As Manager, Engineering & Construction you will have the following responsibilities:
  • Managing engineering & construction responsibilities for Georgia, South Carolina, and Louisiana
  • Managing people, budgets, and customer commitments for a designated territory
  • Managing and supervising staff by appraising performance, training, administering salaries, and communicating department objectives
  • Driving continued training on new systems, improve processes and procedures and pushing initiatives throughout the organization
  • Helping to support the Brightspeed Fiber Build Teams engineering and construction process via collaboration and impediment mitigation to support productivity
  • Participating in the process of negotiating and or bidding of projects with vendors/contractors for the construction/installation of OSP facilities
  • Taking responsibility for capital and expense budgets to support area along with meeting and exceeding required build schedules for FTTT, Ethernet, GPON, MDU, and business as usual work including growth, rehab, road moves and preservation work
  • Communicating results of cost analysis and providing direction on implementation and the network impact related to major plant additions and rearrangements
  • Continuing an outstanding working relationship with the RP/GM Operations Team along with leading/support Market Meetings
  • Driving decisions to lowest level possible to drive towards a local model
  • Leading and supporting local virtual team
  • Managing and directing plans and specifications to provide high quality service within established time frames and to meet defined financial criteria
  • Serving as the interface on construction matters helping to ensure conformance to established practices and procedures
QualificationsWHAT IT TAKES TO CATCH OUR EYE:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience and training
  • 5-7 years of telecommunications engineering and construction knowledge and experience
  • 2+ years of previous supervisory or leadership experience
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Strong computer skills required, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Comprehensive knowledge of engineering / construction practices and procedures, including underground, buried and aerial construction of copper and fiber facilities, road moves experience required
