In return, we'll help you build a career that you can feel passionate about.Job SummaryActs as the Environmental, Health, Safety, and Sustainability (EHS&S) subject matter expert responsible for the oversight of all EHS&S programs at Rockville and Hanover, MD with the goal of ensuring EHS&S compliance of the CRL Rockville & Hanover facilities, utilizing a hybrid work schedule. Work with Corporate EHS&S staff to development and support the rollout of corporate programs as related to implementation. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop and aid departments in the implementation of policies and procedures targeted toward increasing personnel safety and protection of the environment. Work with Rockville, Hanover, and corporate employees to continue to create and sustain a proactive safety culture where EHS&S is built into operations. Develop and implement Rockville & Hanover EHS&S inspection program using Enablon, the CRL EHS&S management system. Support the corporate EHS&S assessment team in their assessment of the Rockville & Hanover site. Report and work directly with the Rockville Site Director with a dotted line to the EHS&S Business Partner. Participate as a member of the Site Leadership Team(s) and conduct reviews at appropriate intervals with facility senior management. Consult with CRL management and employees on Federal, State, and Local regulatory compliance related issues. Ensure proper training programs are available and assigned to the appropriate employees with regards to environmental, health, and safety compliance. Responsible for timely submission of EHS&S reports and permits to applicable US, MD, and Regional regulatory agencies. Work with Site Leadership and Site/Global Procurement to develop cost savings initiatives to ensure business continuity and best in class service pricing for EHS&S materials and services. Provide lead support and formal response to EHS&S agency inspections conducted by US and MD regulatory bodies (e.g., OSHA, EPA, DOT, etc.). Work with Facilities on construction projects regarding EHS&S considerations. Develop program schedules in support of EHS&S site specific initiatives including platform tools (e.g. Enablon, 3E SDS, HSI EHS Training, etc.). Monitor and drive progress of EHS&S projects and programs while helping maintain budgets and schedules. Lead the selection process for hiring third party service firms, evaluating proposals, conducting interviews, and making recommendations to senior management, in partnership with CRL Procurement and Management, around EHS&S needs. Consult with Corporate Engineering, CRL and workplace staff to identify and resolve potential EHS&S issues through engineering design changes or other means necessary. Clarify, define, and assist in enforcement and application of Agency and Company policies and practices. Manage a culture of safety throughout the site, including safety committee, safety assessments/audits, trainings, and safety stand downs. Lead the creation and monitoring of critical safety drills such as evacuations, active shooter, and tornado emergencies. Partner with site leadership to address audit findings from clients, regulatory agencies, or internal CRL audits. Perform all other related duties as assigned.Job Qualifications Education: Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) Experience: 5+ years EH&S related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above. Certification/Licensure: Preferred but not required: CSP, CIH, and/or other EHS credential. Other: Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to handle multiple projects, prioritize work and meet deadlines. Proficiency in MS Office suite including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. In- depth knowledge of environment, health, and safety regulations required. Ability to communicate and influence senior management on EH&S compliance initiatives.Compensation DataThe pay range for this position is $80,805.00 - $118,514.00.
