Manager Foundation and Government SupportSummary: The Manager Foundation & Government Support is a keymember of Safe Horizon's five-person Grants Team within the Development andCommunications Department. The Managerwill be experienced in handling all aspects of foundation proposal developmentand grant reporting in collaboration with Program, Finance, Research andEvaluation and other departments. They will ensure timely and accurateplanning, design, production and submission of proposals and grantreports. They will research funders andadvise on funder engagement and stewardship strategies. They will serve as relationship managersand/or upwardly manage funder relationships to senior staff. They may contribute to government fundingopportunities and other projects as needed. Thisposition reports to the Director Foundation & Government Support. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manages the foundation and government proposal writing process from start to finish, acting as a partner and project manager to agency departments through idea development, program planning, proposal writing, and budget development.
- Writes, reviews, and edits draft copy and produces and submits final proposals and reports in accordance with funder guidelines and timeframes.
- Coordinates and fulfills requests needed for proposals and reports, including updates and client stories from Program, program data from the Research and Evaluation Department, budgets and expenditure reports from the Finance Department, and all other attachments.
- Cultivates relationships with existing and prospective donors through discussion, correspondence, gift acknowledgement, meetings, and tours of Safe Horizon's programs.
- Researches and monitors federal, state, and local government funding sources for available solicitations and funding opportunities, identifying potential agency alignment and benefits.
- Identifies prospective private foundation donors for specific Safe Horizon programs or general support and researches whether and how their funding interests relate to Safe Horizon's programs and/or strategic priorities.
- Independently manages a grants calendar for their portfolio within Salesforce, ensuring that deadlines are met and all necessary follow up takes place in the overall donor cultivation/stewardship process.
- Maintains current understanding of industry trends, needs, innovations and opportunities; develops a deep familiarity with the approach and impact of Safe Horizon and the broader victims' services context.
- Collaborates with other members of the Development and Communications Department to advance organizational priorities.

Supervisor Reports: N/AQualifications:
- 3+ years of fundraising experience, preferably from both public and private sources.
- Advanced/superior writing skills - the successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to capture the purpose, importance and impact of programs and projects with an emphasis on effective structure, grammar, succinctness, and alignment with foundations' giving interests.
- Strong commitment to Safe Horizon's organizational values of client-centered, trauma-informed practice, anti-racism, and community-centered programming with the ability to integrate agency values into grant design and writing.
- Strong verbal, interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience with budget preparation and/or analysis - ability to review budgets and ensure alignment with the funder's interests and the proposal narrative.
- Ability to work independently and under stress, manage demanding and conflicting priorities to meet deadlines, with well-crafted proposals and reports.
- Highly organized and detail oriented.
- Working knowledge of local and national foundation donors, government systems, and funding trends.
- Experience with Salesforce (or comparable donor database) and MS Suite.
- Experience and comfort working with high-level program staff and multiple departments.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; background in social justice or human services preferred.
