Job Description:
Job Summary:
In support of the Promoting Postbaccalaureate Opportunities for Hispanic Americans (PPOHA) Title V Part B grant funded by the U.S. Department of Education, the Manager, Graduate Student Center & Student Services provides direction for the graduate student center, develops strategies and activities to increase graduate student engagement, and manages advising and registration assistance to students in all graduate programs. The Manager will report to the Director of Graduate Recruiting and Retention in efforts to support graduate student enrollment. Together with the graduate program faculty and department and collegiate leadership, the coordinator shares responsibility for guiding and improving graduate education within the program(s) under the Academic Affairs jurisdiction. Acts as a liaison to the Academic Department Chairs and Program Heads. Supervises Student Service Coordinators at the Houston and Rio Grande Valley campuses.
Essential Functions:
* Oversees the development of the graduate student center on the San Antonio campus (2022-2023).
* Develop programming for the graduate student center, both onsite and virtually, including professional development workshops, academic support, and career services,
* Provides support to graduate student organizations.
* Supervise graduate student services coordinators and activities at all locations.
* Actively support graduate students' education and promote a positive experience for prospective and current students and faculty/staff by providing excellent, prompt customer service by email, phone, or in person.
* Incorporate knowledge of the detailed and complex graduate student program information, procedures, into advising communications.
* Coordinate and assist students with procedures related to graduate program milestones, including orientation requirements, practicum and fieldwork, comprehensive/qualifying examinations, thesis/dissertation process, course requirements, and graduation.
* Track academic progress and compliance requirements, proactively identify potential concerns, and work with graduate faculty and student(s) to resolve issues.
* Serve as a Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) Designated School Official (DSO) for new and continuing graduate students.
* Collaborate with Program Directors in updating and standardizing specific program handbooks to ensure that all relevant information is clearly presented.
* Collaborate with Information Technology Services to maintain and up-to-date graduate student distribution list.
* Collaborate with the Graduate Admissions staff in arranging prospective student visits, including faculty/student meetings and travel arrangements.
* Employee will hold the Confidential Information in strict confidence and shall exercise a reasonable degree of care to prevent disclosure to others.
* Employee will not reproduce the Confidential Information for any purpose other than the performance of his/her duties.
Additional Responsibilities:
* Serve as a member of the Graduate Council and Retention Council.
* Develop and serve as a mentor for the Graduate and Professional Student Association (GPSA).
* Coordinate, develop, plan and implement Academic Advisor development programs and materials.
* Be an advocate for graduate student retention efforts across campus.
* Assist with Graduate Admissions orientations.
* Using software such as Informer, CRM Advise and Slate, and the Self-Service modules for advising and registration.
* Provide input to strategic decisions within the Division of Academic Affairs.
* Coordinate logistics for programming and events for targeted student populations related to retention initiatives.
* Manage the creation, collection, and analysis of quantitative and qualitative data on the student experience (e.g., surveys, focus groups, interviews).
* Generate reports to analyze and synthesize both quantitative and qualitative data on graduate student enrollment and student persistence to improve retention and graduation rates.
* All other duties as assigned.

* Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings.
* Possession of a valid driver's license with access to a reliable vehicle for off-campus activities.
Education and Experience Requirements:
* Requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in counseling, student services administration, higher education, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
* Requires three (3) years of experience in college academic advising and retention initiatives and/or graduate admissions.
* Excellent customer relationship skills are required.
Additional Information:
Operational scheduled hours for this position are 9am-6pm Monday thru Friday.
