St. Vincents Medical Center in Bridgeport has more than 3,200 employees. It includes a 473-bed community teaching hospital, a 76-bed inpatient psychiatric facility in Westport, a large multispecialty provider group, and special needs services for adults and children. Job Summary: Manages the daily operations of the Laboratory.Responsibilities:

  • Technically expert in Blood Bank.
  • CAP inspection preparation.
  • Communicate with other departments to help resolve issues.
  • Work closely with Blood Bank Standardization team.
  • Help reduce blood product waste.
  • Develop specific departmental goals, standards, and objectives.
  • Develop and implements policies, procedures, standards and initiatives.
  • Manage staff relations including performance management, staff satisfaction and conflict management.
  • Perform and oversees scheduling, recruitment, and payroll.
  • Monitor departmental budgets, regulatory compliance, departmental contracts, and vendor relations. Determines and justifies needs for equipment purchases.
  • Participates in the education and instruction of students, employees, patients and other personnel as needed.
  • Serves as the technical expert in primary area of clinical responsibility.
  • Evaluates and implements new equipment and procedures.
  • Other Duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Credential(s): Certified Clinical Medical Technologist (ASCP) credentialed from the American

Society of Clinical Pathologists obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.Education: BA or BS: Medical TechnologyWork Experience: 5 years clinical lab, 3 years in section.
