Summary/Objective The Maintenance & Reliability Manager oversees the plant maintenance operations and facilities with direct responsibility for the maintenance department and larger projects receiving direction from the Sr. Manager Technical Services and getting support from the Plant Manager to comply with safety, food safety quality and all regulatory requirements.Develop maintenance team members, understand and execute the company's Operational Excellence program. Participate in cross-functional teams and collaborate with Operations, Quality, Sanitation, and Warehouse leaders, while maintaining compliance relating to Safety, Food Safety, and Food Quality.   • Ensure work area team follows the continuous improvement framework in the areas of Safety, Food Safety Quality and Productivity when conducting Daily Management Meetings
  • Develop and implement a program to review daily, weekly & monthly equipment and department KPI's
  • Develop a culture of accelerated continuous improvement utilizing standard work, problem identification, A3 problem solving, and decision making at the level of execution
  • Work with other group and team leaders, both operational and functional, to identify, prioritize and resolve issues between the teams
  • Responsible for leading operational improvements in the Maintenance Department
  • Develop the leadership capabilities of work area group and team leaders with formal bi-weekly coaching, goal setting, training and timely completion of performance reviews
  • Support group and team leaders in developing and maintaining standard work, implementing and following defined standards
  • Stay current with industry trends and technology
  • Live and promote the corporate vision and mission
  • Follow work practices that align with and support the negotiated collective bargaining agreement
  • Comfortable with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
  • Capable in managing projects, demonstrating foundational knowledge in project planning and execution
  • Able to attend meetings and seminars as required
  • Other duties as assigned
Additional Duties
  • Participate in Process Safety Management (PSM) team managing and addressing key gaps in the PSM program
  • Manage personnel issues, appraise performances, encourage, discipline, and motivate your team as needed
  • Ensure all company policies, union agreements, state and federal laws, and insurance requirements are followed by all applicable department associates
  • Develop staff through cross-training and formal training both in-house and offsite
  • Work with EH&S Specialist in case of incidents related to environment and safety

  • Understand and execute the principles of the company's Operational Excellence program driving the right behaviors, standards and continuous improvement across all operating entities
  • Participate in cross-functional teams as required to advance the business interests of the company
  • Compliance with all company and regulatory policies/guidelines relating to associate safety, food safety and food quality
Competencies
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint, AutoCAD Lt,
  • Excellent communication and organization skills, including written and oral presentation skills
  • Be able to troubleshoot PLC logic (AB ) Modicon is a plus.
  • Strong time management skills
  • Must demonstrate excellent analytical and critical thinking skills

Supervisory Responsibility/Reporting and Working Relationships Team Leadership
  • Work to communicate and execute the business goals and mission statement in the maintenance department
  • Model and execute operational excellence management system within the maintenance activities of the business creatively challenging and motivating direct and indirect reports to continuously improve departmental performance
  • Manage the maintenance performance of all three shifts ensuring appropriate execution of repairs, PMs and improvement projects
  • Develop and execute a culture of continuous improvement in the hourly team through use of clear prioritization, problem solving and empowerment
  • Ensure maintenance team members execute weekly PMs and prioritized improvement projects
  • Collaborate with Operations, Quality, Sanitation, and Warehouse leaders execute plant priorities including improvements to plant safety, food safety quality and uptime of equipment
  • Execute on the foundational principles of world-class maintenance - good housekeeping, OEE driven prioritization, CMMS management, parts organization, annual training, and work request processing and planning
  • Coordinate with contractors to perform maintenance in our facilities, landscaping, waste removal, boilers, HVAC, cooling and ammonia systems.
Technical Leadership
  • Demonstrate and teach good craftsmanship and technical problem solving abilities
  • Provide troubleshooting leadership to the department for key pieces of equipment and systems
  • Provide technical insights into improving equipment and facility performance
Financial Leadership
  • Responsible for improving the cost position of the assigned work team preventing or eliminating issues including overtime, labor efficiency, shrink, energy consumption, etc. with an expected annual savings goal of 3%
  • Work with engineering and operations to identifying annual capital improvements and creating appropriate business cases to justify investment
  • Prioritize and manage top improvement goals to ensure appropriate support from shared services like preventative maintenance, scheduling, and supply chain.
  • Monitor close Capex project budgets
Work Environment/Physical Demands
  • Exposed to fumes or airborne particles
  • Exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration
  • Occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions, hot and cold.
  • Noise level can be load on job site
  • Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.
  • Must frequently lift and move items 50 pounds and over.
Education and ExperienceRequired:
  • Three to five years of experience in production/ maintenance supervision or equivalent experience in related industry.
  • Maintenance experience three to ten years in an industrial setting
  • Strong organizational and influential leadership skills; 3+ years of experience in leading, managing and empowering technical personnel or teams
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve and troubleshoot technical problems
Preferred:
  • Food Manufacturing Maintenance Experience
  • Bachelor degree (Engineering Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial)
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
  • This is a full time salary exempt position
  • Must be willing to work a varied schedule
  • Additional hours and days (holidays, week-ends) as required
  • Expected Work Activity
  • 70% on-site supervision, problem solving, implementing, and observing
  • 20% office, planning, reporting
  • 10% staff meetings, group planning, audits, tours, and misc.
Travel
  • As needed for meetings or training
