Job Description:
Job purpose The Manager, Manufacturing will play an integral role in ensuring success in the manufacturing operations and provide support to the entire manufacturing team as well as provide total plant support in the absence of the General Manager.The focus of this role is the efficient and cost effective management of production lines to ensure the timely and optimum availability of high quality finished products in order to ensure that production schedules in a safe and sanitary environment consistent with Government regulations. Essential Duties and responsibilities Under limited supervision, performs duties at a managerial level and is responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of the day-to-day activities, projects, process improvements and/or workload of people in Manufacturing. Employee Management
  • Responsible for the planning of labor and assets for efficient and cost effective operations.
  • Responsible for maintaining consistency with the hiring, termination, and disciplinary actions taken with production employees.
  • Keep current with all new laws including HR, as well as, all governmental regulations, etc. to ensure a safe & healthy working environment
  • Carry out all managerial responsibilities in accordance with policies, procedures and applicable laws in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Plan, assign and direct employee work load.
  • Provide performance appraisal feedback.
  • Address and resolve complex and confidential issues.
  • Ensure that employees have clear goals and responsibilities. Empower them and ensure that they understand they will be held accountable.
Manufacturing Management
  • Ensure compliance to facility Food Safety Standards, production of products that meet or exceed customer and product specifications, compliance to specifications, HACCP and GMP's.
  • Actively work to analyze and reduce Customer Complaints.
  • Ensure up-to-date, cost effective manufacturing of products through increased efficiency, quality standards, and company objectives.
  • Oversee timely and cost effective manufacturing of products through increased efficiency, quality standards, and company objectives.
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing Principles or 'Problem Solving & Lessons Learned' procedures to ensure continual growth within the company.
  • Provide assistance to Research & Development (R&D) in the processing of new products.
  • Develop and manage continuous improvement and quality processes, as well as, maintain existing processes.
  • Maintains productivity standards (for example 14 lines per hour), implement corrective action when necessary
  • Creates reports for management of KPI (Key Performance Indicators) attainment data.
  • Oversees scheduling, adjust capacities when needed to reduce/eliminate overtime and temporary help
  • Identifyand implement new process opportunities to drive efficiencies
  • Prepare for monthly departmental reviews of actual vs. budget attainment
  • Assesses data from the Labor Reporting System for all hourly and take corrective action to improve operations based on findings.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required or equivalent experience in Manufacturing
  • 10-15 years of experience in Manufacturing, P&L, and supervision of supervisory level and above incumbents.
  • Knowledge of Warehouse Operations, Logistics and WMS systems, Inventory Control processes and the ability to analyze and reconcile inventory and/or Work Order discrepancies.
  • Strong communication and inter-personal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to create and sustain a safe work environment
  • Ability to interface with IT on enhancements or problems with the ERP system application and/or request reports necessary to improve the operation or correct issues.
  • Prior experience in the management the Warehouse Management Systems and the ability to leverage the system to benefit the operation.
  • Proficiency in personal computer based software (Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, COGNOS, Q4BIS, and Lotus Notes etc.) for email, performing analysis and reporting results.
  • Excellent attention to detail.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effectively utilizes metrics to drive results
