The Role
GovExec is seeking a Manager, Marketing & PR based in New York to join our team. In this role, you will plan, organize, and execute marketing and public relations strategies to promote events,enhance brand visibility, and build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including media, clients, and the public. You will assist in the end-to-end event planning process, executing marketing campaigns, and managing public relations initiatives to ensure successful promotion and coverage ofcompany events.
Responsibilities
Marketing & Campaign Management
- Develop and implement communication channels to engage with the target audiences effectively to promote events and key company initiatives.
- Conduct market research to identify audience trends and needs, using internal insights to inform marketing strategies and boost engagement.
- Track and analyze campaign performance, making adjustments as needed.
Content Creation & Calendar Management
- Collaborate with the Art Department to create event graphics, print/digital ads (for magazine and event journals), and email blasts.
- Schedule all ad and email campaigns.
- Manage all design requests & processes for events (graphics, taglines, web ads)
- Design & create event marketing materials, i.e. posters, handouts, and house ads
- Maintain and update the events marketing calendar, including creating the Airtable base and yearly calendar page.
Social Media & Digital Engagement
- Manage campaigns across social media platforms, creating posts for event speakers and sponsors and scheduling content.
- Responsible for audience engagement through live social media promotion during live events
- Coordinate sponsor social media posts
- Ability to write innovative and creative social media copy
Audience & Partner Development
- Build and maintain relationships with journalists, bloggers, influencers, and media outlets to generate event coverage.
- Create event content kits and coordinate outreach to potential partners.
- Develop and distribute press releases, maintain media lists, and track media attendance and post-event coverage.
- Create tailored lists and tracking links for campaigns/manage barters and discount codes
- Manage event mailing lists and update as needed
Event Materials & Logistics
- Create and print event signage, promotional materials, and program journal QR codes
- Prepare digital and physical materials, such as small acrylic table signs and subscription/social media info displays.
Event Operations
- Pre-Event: Organize and set up event spaces, including name badges, VIP tables, exhibit tables, digital signage, and presentations.
- Day-Of Event: Oversee check-in/registration, manage speaker attendance, coordinate with exhibitors, and ensure smooth operations.
- Post-Event: Manage surveys, share ICYMI updates/photos on social media, and update Airtable records.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in event management, marketing, or public relations, preferably in a corporate or agency setting.
- Proficiency with event management software (Airtable), social media platforms, and email marketing tools (e.g., Mailchimp, Constant Contact).
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities to manage multiple campaigns and events simultaneously.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for creating press materials and marketing content.
- Innovative thinking and problem-solving to deliver unique, engaging event experiences.
- Flexibility to work evenings or weekends when needed.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with vendors, media, and key stakeholders.
- Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
- Proactive, results-driven, and team-oriented.

The compensation range for this role is $70,000 to $82,000 per year.
