Founded in 1805, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA) is America's first school and museum of fine arts. Located in the center city of Philadelphia, PAFA is intimate in scale with a strong sense of community. PAFA offers several nondegree and certificate in studio art and art appreciation programs. PAFA's museum has an outstanding collection of American art, and the museum actively collects and exhibits contemporary art, including work in new media. Additionally, PAFA is home to the Brodsky Center, a print and papermaking center focused on the creation of innovative editions by contemporary artists.

POSITION: Manager of Membership and Annual Giving
The Manager of Membership and Annual Giving is responsible for managing PAFA's annual giving and general membership programs. The Manager will report to the Senior Director of Development and work closely with the Donor Relations and Major Gift Officers to develop and implement programs and events for the purpose of member and donor acquisition, cultivation, and retention. This role will also create and execute an effective annual giving program targeting PAFA alumni and other constituencies of individuals using data-driven and strategically integrated approaches to increase revenue.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement an effective annual giving program for all PAFA constituencies, including general memberships and outright support from individuals. Use data-driven and strategically integrated approaches to increase revenue from these funding areas.
- Design and execute creative member acquisition, renewal, upgrade, and retention strategies, including benefits, events, direct mail, and digital campaigns as well as PAFA's website and social media.
- Proactively collaborate across the organization with academic, public program, museum, marketing, visitor experience, retail, and continuing education teams to enhance and expand annual giving support and a multi-channel membership sales effort, with an emphasis on onsite sales and visitor data capture.
- Serve as primary point of contact for members and annual fund donors and provide a high level of customer service. Fulfill member services and benefits including member event planning and execution; respond to inquiries and visitor services needs as appropriate.
- In collaboration with PAFA's academic program teams, create and execute strategies to increase engagement and leverage support from the base of 7,000 living PAFA alumni. Work cross-departmentally on a communications strategy and to support alumni events.
- Oversee two annual fund direct mail campaigns per year, targeting various constituencies including but not limited to alumni, parents, program participants, and other members of PAFA's community. In addition, explore and develop new strategies to increase annual fund support.
- Generate and maintain monthly reports to track progress towards goals and the success of acquisition, renewal, retention, and upgrade strategies. Suggest tactics for course correction as needed.
- Utilize Raiser's Edge NXT, Constant Contact, and other platforms to manage constituent lists for membership and annual fund mailings, digital communications, and invitations; reporting and data analysis; design and execute donor communications, including a monthly member e-newsletter.
- Effectively use wealth screening and Research Point to mine data, target potential donors, and identify prospects.
- Work closely with Development Associate on web content, social media, gift entry and record keeping processes related to membership and annual giving, including reconciliation process with the Finance Department. Serve as primary back up for gift entry needs.
- Work closely with the Development Associate on the preparation and execution of membership gift acknowledgements and cards, renewal notices, other membership-related correspondence, and annual giving acknowledgements.
- Partner with Individual Giving team on upgrade and retention strategies, prospect identification, and planned giving messaging. Play a role in helping to build a pipeline for future Peale Circle members and major donors.
- Contribute membership and annual giving content for the annual report, organization-wide communications, mailings, e-mails, and invitations.
- Promote a culture of philanthropy throughout the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Approximately three to five years of membership, annual giving, marketing, or related experience.
- A sense of curiosity and enthusiasm for the arts with an interest in advancing PAFA's mission to celebrate the transformative power of art and artmaking.
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Ability to think and work independently with superior attention to detail.
- Comfort and confidence in a front-line role, excellent customer service and problem-solving skills.
- A creative and entrepreneurial thinker interested in discovering new ways to enhance and grow the membership base and annual fund.
- Aptitude for analyzing data and maximizing reporting tools.
- Ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Word, Outlook, Excel).
- Expertise in Raiser's Edge NXT software (or similar system) and Constant Contact (or similar system) required.
- Experience creating digital communications preferred.
- Ability to work some evening and weekend events.
