Sony Pictures Classics (SPC) specializes in the acquisition, marketing and distribution of prestigious foreign and American independent films. Operations include booking theatres, shipping prints, billing and collections, overseeing the creation of ad campaigns and trailers, and implementing creative marketing strategies tailor-made for each picture. SPC releases have been nominated for over 20 Academy Awards. Manager, Non-Theatrical/ Theatrical Sales
- Negotiate, invoice and book non-theatrical playdates for film societies, churches, colleges, film clubs, etc. Follow up for grosses and box office reports when applicable.
- Actively seek and book repertory playdates. Follow up for grosses and box office reports when applicable.
- Book Post-Run playdates (subsequent to theatrical first run of all SPC titles), which include repertory, calendar playdates.
- Explore new areas that could generate further revenue, utilizing thematic repertory and theatrical packages as an example. Find potential non-theatrical sub-distributors who can sell our catalog of films and connect with our legal department on contracts.
- Report daily grosses, which includes weekends.
- Discuss which titles from our catalog might be worth reissuing, i.e. milestone anniversary titles, special interest titles, tie-ins, etc., which requires keeping track of theatrical release calendar. Spearhead the release of such titles along with rest of Sales team.
- Create and maintain non-theatrical database of all past clients, i.e. schools, film societies, etc.
- Liaison with Operations Department to assist with billing, refunds, grosses discrepancies, box office reports and booking issues. Attend weekly Operations meetings.
- Liaison with Sales Department to facilitate group sales of theatrical releases when necessary.
- Get holdovers for weekly bookings.
- Periodically send out promotional information for new non-theatrical titles, utilizing non-theatrical database, for the purpose of generating playdates.
- Liaison with Advertising Dept to arrange for promotional materials for theatres and film organizations, guest speakers, etc.
- Assist with contracts, quarterly reporting for non-theatrical sub-distribution companies (i.e. Alexander Street Press, RO*CO, etc.).
Job Requirements:
- 3-5 years theatrical sales experience
- Knowledge of U.S. theatrical territories by branch/DMA
The anticipated base salary for this position is $75,000 to $92,000 This role may also qualify for annual incentive and/or comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
