Support center operational needs, provide holistic business and financial review of programs and projects within the center, and oversee Human Resources and Financial transactions for center affiliated faculty, students, and other researchers. The overall goal of this position is to establish core business administration functions within the Center with the opportunity for expansion of duties and the inclusion of additional direct reports as the Center grows. By taking on this role the employee will gain experience that may later lead them to potential growth in leadership and supervisory duties within the center.This position is posted as fixed term through March 31, 2027, with the possibility for extension based on available funding, etc.Responsibilities
- Financial Management: Responsible for financial oversight and transaction approvals on all center accounts. Coordinate with Principal Investigators (PI) to plan all project and program spending including all fund types, which includes providing budget projections and financial reporting across programs. Manage all center Workday and financial transaction requests in coordination with Center transactional staff. Ensure compliance with internal and external policies and procedures.
- Personnel Appointments: Review award budget and key personnel award effort requirement with the College of Education Research Administration (COERA) team. Coordinate with PIs and departments for appointment planning across all fund types. Prepare appointment and costing allocation worksheet information semesterly or as needed. Hold the Cost Center Manager role in Workday, and perform ad-hoc costing allocations. Regularly audit all salary and tuition transactions related to appointments. Work with departments on faculty buyouts and summer research appointments. Attend Workday training as needed, maintain appointment policies, and update internal workflow as necessary.
- Post-award Research Administration: Work collaboratively with COERA and PIs on certain aspects of post-award functions, such as assisting PIs with sponsored account budget issues (e.g. insufficient funds and accounting errors); providing ad hoc projected expenditure reports; performing budget reallocations on sponsored research accounts as needed.
- Other: Act as liaison with departments, COERA, COE Dean's Office Business Services, PIs, and centralized UT business offices. Provide university and other policy updates to faculty as needed. Assist in planning and building future Center staffing expansion and funding maintenance with TexCEP directors. Coordinate key requests and oversee inventory. Attend conferences, presentations, and related campus organizations for business administration topics in order to stay abreast of new rules and trends.Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and at least five years of progressively responsible experience in business administration, or a master's degree and at least three years of experience in business administration.
- Experience with fund accounting.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact skillfully with faculty, staff, and researchers, and work with overlapping projects with sensitive and confidential information.
- Ability to promote a dynamic and customer service-oriented environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills, high level of organizational skills, and attention to detail.
- Willingness to partner with internal and external offices and staff to develop processes that build business efficiency.
- Proficient use of MS Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook; and Adobe Professional, along with the ability to navigate various University systems.Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Experience with post-award research administration.
- Previous supervisory experience.
