JOB OVERVIEW: The purpose of this position is to oversee policies and procedures related to financial operations, operational activities, grant acquisition and reporting of department operations. Incumbents may be assigned to overseeing business operations in one of two locations: The Parks Administration office or the Historic Boone Home.

The Manager of Business Operations - Administration is responsible for researching, developing, and overseeing department policies and practices regarding revenue generation. This position seeks, applies for, and assists other department staff with securing grants, serves as the departmental lead for reservation software, and coordinates internal auditing policies and procedures to comply with internal and external audits. Work is performed under the Office Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Seeks, negotiates and coordinates real estate acquisitions as directed.

* Secures professional services to document and safeguard county's investment and limit the liability risk with regards to real estate transactions.

* Develops, coordinates and oversees policies, procedures and practices regarding revenue generation and documentation, including chain of responsibility, reconciliation and deposits.

* Develops, coordinates and oversees (as directed) internal auditing policies and procedures, and compliance plans in response to external audits.

* Oversees, pursues, and assists other department staff in the securing and tracking of grants or other financial assistance for department endeavors.

* Reviews, finds and secures (as directed) better or additional revenue sources to increase revenue generating opportunities.

* Develops and maintains computer program(s) to record and document: facility/items reservations, rentals and usage, activity registrations, revenue generation, customer databases, and general business.

* Provides support to staff and consumers as needed.

* Assists in the development of contracts and other legal documents as they relate to real estate acquisition and revenue generating activities.

* Maintains a good working relationship with the Finance, Auditing and the IS departments with regard to business related issues.

* Maintains a good working relationship with other department staff with regards to implementing and carrying out policies, procedures and practices regarding business operations, revenue generation and documentation.

* May be periodically required to assist in Park Programming and activities outside of normal job duties and hours.

* Conducts research on various projects.

* Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

* Education

* Bachelor's degree required in Business, Marketing, Parks and Recreation Administration, History, Historic Preservation, Archaeology, or closely related field.

* Certification

* Must have and maintain a valid motor vehicle's operating license.

* Job Experience

* 4-5 years of experience.

* A combination of seven to ten years related work/volunteer/teaching experience is preferred.

* Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

* Experience with real estate transactions, 501c(3) organizations, legal contracts, financial accounting, computer networks and software is highly desirable.

* Experience in event planning and management preferred.

* Knowledge of basic accounting principles.

* Experience in financial reconciliation and reporting is preferred.

* Supervisory experience preferred.

* Ability to provide a high-level of customer service to park visitors.
