Job DetailsJob LocationHampden-Sydney College - Hampden Sydney, VADescriptionHampden-Sydney College is accepting applications for a Manager of College Grants. Reporting to the Assistant Dean for Grants and Faculty Development, the Manager of College Grants assists faculty and staff with pre-award and post-award management of sponsored projects, including prospect research, proposal development, award compliance, budget tracking and disbursement, recordkeeping, reporting, and project closeout. The position also works closely with the Controller and Assistant Controller to track award spending and compliance. The position is an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to each stage of a grant cycle.DutiesIn conjunction with the Assistant Dean for Grants and Faculty Development, assists faculty and staff in assessing their needs for external funding, researching public and private funding prospects, and identifying appropriate funding opportunities.Facilitates the grant application process by reviewing funding opportunity announcements, checking eligibility requirements; assisting in preparing application documents, reviewing proposals for compliance with application instructions, and performing other tasks as needed.Assists with acceptance of grant award agreements.Ensures compliance with award agreements and reporting requirements. Meets with project participants on a regular basis to monitor progress on awarded projects.Works closely with the Business Office and project director to track budgets, process invoices, and resolve any financial issues.Prepares and submits timely and accurate reports to grantors as required.Assists in development and monitoring of budgets. Tracks expenditures and ensures that grant funds are spent appropriately.Maintains records of all grant activities, including applications, awards, correspondence, and reports.Serves as the primary point of contact for grant-related inquiries, both internally and externally, and communicates with key personnel at all levels.Maintains compliance with terms and conditions of awarded grants, including subawards from other institutions.Collaborates with the faculty/staff leading the project, as well as with the Dean of the Faculty, Office of Institutional Effectiveness, Financial Aid Office, Business Office, and others as needed.Coordinates with the Assistant Dean for Grants and Faculty Development to maintain and update College polices related to grants and sponsored research.Participates in professional development and networking conferences and events.Performs other duties as assigned.QualificationsBachelor's Degree is required. Previous budgeting and project management experience is preferred; however, training will be provided for candidates who do not have this experience but are interested in the field. An ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail and the ability to read and interpret complex instructions and policies.The ideal candidate will not only communicate clearly but also possess strong interpersonal skills.
