- Bachelor's degree - Required
Experience / Qualifications - 5 years of experience, prefer 3 years in a hospital
- Familiar with Joint Commission Standards; NFPA requirements and all state and local building codes for health care facilities, CADD, Databases.
- Excellent organizational skills, interpersonal and communication skills.
Position Summary Under the direction of the Director of Facilities, manages construction and renovation for the Hospital by serving as the Hospital's representative in working directly with architects, engineers, contractors and consultants in designing, engineering, estimating/budgeting, evaluating, building, equipping, and preparing for use.
- Assembles, prepares, and presents construction projects: Evaluates user needs, alternatives, comparative costs, and makes recommendations to Administration as requested.
- Manages construction projects of all sizes: Plans, manages, and tracks resources for the successful project completion and start-up. Includes coordination of architectural and engineering consultants, interior design, regulatory inspection, contractors, and vendors. Provides oversight to Furniture/Fixtures/Equipment identification and procurement.
- Acts as General Contractor on small projects: Manages construction activities to complete in a timely manner and minimize impact on affected departments.
- Manages quality control for construction projects: Manages inspections of all work on a continuing basis to promote quality construction and informs all team members of any apparent discrepancies. Facilitates multi-disciplinary proactive risk assessments. Conducts safety inspections and hazard surveillance of the construction site and grounds. Advises Director of Facilities regarding concerns related to construction quality, quantity of services performed, cost of services, and satisfaction with services.
- Provides oversight to Interim Life Safety policies and procedures, including identification, inspection, and compliance.
- Assists in the preparation of Capital budget for construction projects. Assists in the preparation of operating budget for the Facilities Department.
- Serves as a resource for construction technologies: Maintains and applies awareness of current construction technologies, applicable codes and standards for healthcare construction.
- Effectively uses and role models current leadership techniques and theories, encouraging the decision-making skills of staff members and providing insight and leadership in complex situations.
- Ensures that information disseminated to staff is monitored for effectiveness and changed as needed.
- Understands and enforces hospital and personnel policies and procedures.
- Serve on hospital and Patient Care Services committees, teams, and work groups as requested.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
