Job Description Title: Manager of Design Engineering - Engineering - NY Office Reports to: Senior Director, Manufacturing Excellence - Engineering - BKK Office Overview: Provide comprehensive project management by successfully developing and aiding in the engineering of products based on timeline. Serve as owner of vendor communication throughout the engineering process. Help troubleshoot engineering challenges from design inception, attend DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and CTM (Concept to Manufacturing) meetings, with the intention of starting as early as possible to foresee possible issues and bottle necks in production. Follow and document all ECN Projects from start to completion. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Partner with Senior Director or Design Engineering on new product efforts focusing on engineering, manufacturing, and design aesthetic needs. Serve as primary contact (owner) with external vendors during engineering collaboration. Responsible for following timeline
  • Work closely with NY based design teams early in the development process to ensure engineering needs are met
  • Work daily with BKK Engineering Team to promote inter-office cohesion
  • Own Pre-DFM Meetings for both Men's and Women's businesses
  • Own ECN projects including communication with the vendors, inspecting models and assembly methods, coming up with solutions or alternatives to correct known issues, obtain final updated vendor samples that pass DY QC and communicate to repair team when solutions are implemented
  • Run bi-weekly ECN meeting, updating team on the status of projects, and ensuring they are completed in a timely manner
  • Execute and maintain all product engineering specific documentation as needed including project kits, engineering reference documents, and supplemental documents. Maintain systems as required (PLM, Oracle)
  • Execute technologically driven solutions to attain fundamental product improvements by improving product manufacturability, reducing manufacturing cost, increasing manufacturing capacity or improving product quality
  • Work closely with Product Development and Production Teams to evaluate and determine best practices for producing David Yurman Jewelry
  • Coordinate with the Costing Team to execute and advise on estimated pricing for new design concepts and projects in work
  • Monitor engineering issues and problem-solve throughout the manufacturing process
  • Support additional manufacturing and engineering-related initiatives as needed
Qualifications:
  • Education: Four-year BA or BS degree in Mechanical Engineering with a background in jewelry design preferred
  • 2-3 years' Project Management experience with the Jewelry industry or manufacturing engineering experience required
  • Excellent prioritization and time management skills required
  • Demonstrated experience in new product development and/or manufacturing process improvement
  • Ability to analyze complex engineering problems
  • Knowledge of modern jewelry manufacturing techniques, precious metal metallurgy and/or investment casting
  • Proven ability to work within a minimal supervision, fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication (English written and verbal) & interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Proficient Microsoft Office computer skills (specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Working knowledge of InDesign/Illustrator/Photoshop a plus
  • Practical CAD knowledge, specifically Rhino software
  • Working knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) & Oracle software
  • This position is based in NYC
Education: Four-year BA or BS degree in Mechanical Engineering Location: New York, NY (Tribeca) Working mode: Hybrid - 4 days in office, up to 5 days per week Travel: Some travel required Estimated Salary Range: $110,000 - $120,000 / year Base pay is one component of David Yurman's total compensation package, which may also include the following for eligible employees: access to healthcare benefits, 401(k) plan, bonus, employee discounts, Summer Fridays (corporate roles), generous paid time off, sick time, and more.
