Job DetailsJob LocationMain Hospital - Los Angeles, CADescriptionManager of EVS and NutritionExemptGateways Hospital and Mental Health CenterSUMMARY OF POSITION:Under the guidance and direction of the Director of EVS and Nutrition, this position is responsible for 24 hours/7 days a week site direction of environmental services assigned staff, performing cleaning/project work at the main hospital and affiliated Gateways Hospital and Mental Health Center Facilities. Monitors environmental services program to ensure that building(s) are maintained in a safe, clean, and operationally effective condition.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Supervises staff concerning specific areas of responsibility which include quality standards, department policies and procedures, and service levels.Create and manage departmental schedules using PAYCOM system.Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.Interviews and selects environmental services and Nutrition personnel.Conducts annual performance evaluations in the department.Maintains and adheres to environmental services departmental policies/procedures relative to OSHA, DHS, AOA, NFPA, OSHPD, County, and other governing agency regulations and standards.Coordinates, schedules, oversees and conducts employee training/development necessary to meet established performance standards, teamwork, and service criteria.Performs area inspections with assigned EVS and Nutrition personnel to evaluate/monitor performance, customer satisfaction, and infection prevention program compliance.Ensures compliance with sanitation and food temperatures, including preparation for inspections by the county and AOA.Ensures general inspections are completed daily, and monthly inspections are completed in all building areas.Supervises EVS and Nutrition employees (if applicable) to ensure that work techniques, quality assurance standards, department policies and procedures, and job specifications are adhered to.Assists in maintaining budget compliance.Identifies and recommends opportunities to decrease costs and increase service levels.Participate in Environment of Care inspections.Manages and maintains EVS and Nutritional inventory supplies with established par levels.Assists in maintaining in-service information for EVS and Nutrition Staff for both mandatory educational and training needs.Assists in ordering supplies and inventory logistics within the department.Holds monthly Environmental EVS & Nutrition staff meetings.Ensures staff complete all mandatory training and other employment requirements.Assists in the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures and work standards.Coordinates special projects as assigned, including working with other departmental leaders to meet their needs for specific events.Create and manage work orders (internal and external) and manage logistics for repairs needed to equipment within the department.EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:Bilingual is strongly preferred (Spanish)Minimum three (3) years of environmental services experience in the healthcare environment.Minimum three (3) years of experience working with bargaining units and contract interpretation.Knowledge of hospital infection prevention, sanitation protocols, and cleaning methods.Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.Association for Healthcare Environment (AHE) or International Executive Housekeepers Association (IEHA) Certification preferred.Knowledgeable in all EVS policies and proceduresManagement skills, including interviewing, organizing, planning, and problem-solving skills requiredKnowledgeable in floor care proceduresTraining background in EVS & Nutrition cleaning processEDUCATION: Bachelor's degree strongly preferred, or equivalent management skills and experience required.Associate degree or two years of college OR two (2) years of experience in a directly related fieldREQUIREMENTS:
  • Must pass Department of Justice (DOJ), Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), and Community Care Licensing (CCL) background clearance.
  • Valid California Driver's license.
  • Food safety certification is needed but can be completed at the time of hire.
  • Driving record acceptable for coverage by Gateways insurance carrier.
  • TB clearance.
  • Fire and Safety Training*.
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention Training) *
