Job Summary and Qualifications

• You will be responsible for the activities, supervision, management and direction of the Mother Baby Unit in accordance with organizational and departmental philosophy and goals.
• You will assist the Director in maintaining the highest degree of clinical and operational performance of the Department and will be responsible for leadership of nursing personnel and/or students, and function as a resource for physicians, nursing staff and patients.
• You will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining staff compliance to performance expectations, and provide coaching, counseling and assign preceptors to orientees or staff as appropriate and document interactions. You will also prepare and discuss employee performance appraisals with individual staff on a one-on-one basis.
• You will demonstrate participation in recruitment, selection, orientation and retention process of employees.
• You will contribute to the learning experience of new employees, students, floating nurses, and agency personnel.

What qualifications you will need:

• A.S. or Equivalent Required; B.A. / B.S. preferred.
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required.
• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse with the Board of Registered Nurses of the State of California.
• BLS Certification.
• NRP Certification.
• Recent experience in Mother Baby Unit setting required (staff nurse experience within the last two years preferred).
• 3 Years Managerial expertise preferred.
