Description The Manager of Operations, Food Hub plays a key role in overseeing and optimizing TCAH's food distribution operations across multiple locations. This position manages two warehouses totaling 28,000 sq ft, coordinating the distribution of over 17 million meals annually. The role includes oversight of programs such as Weekend Health Snack, Mobile Pantry, Health 360, and Satellite programs, which support over 200 partner organizations. Additionally, the role is responsible for managing the Thanksgiving Distribution Event, which serves 1,300 attendees in Brooklyn and 600-700 in Queens.Key Responsibilities:Operational Leadership:
- Manage day-to-day operations of two warehouses in Brooklyn (19,000 sq ft) and Queens (9,000 sq ft).
- Ensure efficient inventory management, procurement, and distribution processes.
- Oversee staff responsible for warehouse supervision, management, and distribution logistics.
- Provide leadership, training, and professional development opportunities for direct reports and other team members.
- Implement health and safety protocols across warehouse operations.
- Monitor and maintain equipment and infrastructure to support food distribution activities.
- Implement and oversee waste reduction and sustainability practices within warehouse operations to minimize food waste.
Program Management:
- Lead and supervise the Food Distribution Coordinator, Dispatch, and Mobile Unit Coordinator.
- Ensure compliance with grant requirements and KPIs related to food distribution programs.
- Use data and reporting tools to analyze operational efficiency, monitor KPIs, and identify areas for improvement in warehouse management and food distribution.
- Host and manage several small distribution events annually, in addition to overseeing the Thanksgiving Distribution Event.
Community Engagement and Advocacy:
- Represent TCAH at community events, fostering relationships with elected officials, stakeholders, and community leaders.
- Advocate for food justice and collaborate with partners to address community food insecurity issues.
- Serve as a spokesperson for TCAH, presenting on organizational achievements and food operation initiatives.
Coalition Management:
- Manage the Urban Health Food Coalition, including hosting meetings, addressing member concerns, and facilitating food allocation and distribution.
- Support coalition members in organizational development and strategic growth initiatives.
Position Requirements
- Proven leadership skills with a minimum of 5 years in a managerial role overseeing complex operations.
- Experience in food distribution, warehouse management, or related fields preferred.
- Proficiency in inventory management software (e.g., SmartChoice or similar systems).
- Forklift or equipment operation certification, or willingness to obtain.
- Strong problem-solving and adaptability skills.
- Commitment to health and safety standards, with experience in developing safety procedures and ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations.
