Manager of Public Relations

About the Role:
The Bay Area Panthers, a premier professional football team, seek a skilled PR professional to serve as Manager of Public Relations. Reporting to the team President, this role involves developing and executing a comprehensive earned media strategy, supporting football communications, and collaborating with the marketing team. Responsibilities include media planning, crafting press materials, managing media availability, and fostering relationships with athletes, coaches, and the media. Prior experience in professional sports PR is preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
Public Affairs
- Play a key role in developing the Club's communications strategy and serve as the main PR media contact for the Club
- Pitch story ideas to media and serving as on-site liaison for Bay Area Panthers front office
- Create and execute plans for Club business communications initiatives, including ticketing on sales/offers, corporate sponsorships, community initiatives, etc.
- Drive proactive publicity plans for Bay Area Panthers players, coaches and President and serve as on-site PR contact for media opportunities and team-related events
- Build and maintain relationships with key Bay Area and National sports media
- Manage, oversee and edit the annual Media Guide
- Maintain comprehensive media clips
- Support with match day media relations responsibilities for both home and away games, including the media availability, postgame reports and the copying and distribution of game notes, statistics and press clips, and more
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in public affairs / public relations with a particular focus on sports and entertainment
- Proven track record of creating deep and meaningful relationships with members of the local and national media
- Strong written and oral communications skills
- Ability to think strategically and creatively to develop innovative PR narratives
- Passion for sports and an understanding of the football industry
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and game days
