Title: Manager of Student Engagement Institution: Volunteer State Community College Job Summary: This position will design, implement, and develop comprehensive programs and resources to support students' academic success by addressing non-academic factors that impact student learning. The position focuses on delivering proactive support services, managing wellness spaces, collaborating with community partners, and coordinating prevention programming, including mental health and suicidal ideation training, to ensure students receive holistic support during their academic journey. This position is also responsible for resolving student conduct issues according to VSCC policy and supervises the Coordinator of Student Activities. Additionally, this position will work with the Assistant Vice President for Student Support to investigate and adjudicate student discipline issues, collaborate with faculty on classroom misconduct, ensure compliance with providing preventive education for students especially in the areas of sexual misconduct, and alcohol and drug use and also assist with Title IX investigations involving students, and work collaboratively with all areas of the college to resolve general complaints lodged by students. Job Duties: Responsible for investigating and adjudicating student conduct issues and maintaining student conduct software. Regularly train the Committee on Discipline using various modalities to guarantee that all members have an understanding of the student disciplinary policy, any policies, procedures and practices related to student conduct and discipline, and to familiarize the committee with standard disciplinary hearing procedures. Provide materials, other information and training to faculty, staff, and students on the student conduct policy and procedures to assist with developing processes which adhere to policy providing appropriate avenues for reporting student conduct issues. This also includes providing statistical reports, when appropriate, and making revisions to the Student Conduct and Disciplinary Standards policy in consultation with TBR, faculty and the appropriate staff. Manage the Title IX process outlined in TBR Policy when all parties involved are students and assist the Office of Human Resources when a student(s) are involved. Supervise and evaluate the performance of the Coordinator of Student Activities. Implement ongoing awareness campaigns that address issues like mental health stigma, substance abuse, sexual violence prevention, healthy relationships and other barriers to student success while working in conjunction with the Office of Marketing, Communications, and Media Services to use creative marketing strategies to promote broad participation. Develop and implement mental health, to include suicidal ideation awareness and intervention training for empowering the campus community to recognize warning signs and respond appropriately. Build strong partnerships with local mental health agencies and service providers to ensure students can access counseling, crisis intervention, and emotional support services. Develop and implement programs addressing challenges that impact students' academic success, such as, but not limited to, time management, financial literacy, mental health, and access to community services. Assist in coordinating and developing student engagement initiatives such as, but not limited to, wellness workshops and first-year experience programming to foster a supportive campus environment. Work with student organizations to guide groups on programming. Support the Early Alert program through providing targeted interventions, follow-ups, and referrals as needed. Develop and maintain a comprehensive directory of campus and community resources, ensuring students have easy access to the appropriate resources while serving as a liaison for student referral services. Establish and nurture partnerships with local, state, and national support service providers, and non-profit organization to enhance the range of support services available to students. Continuously assess the effectiveness of prevention and support programs through data collection and feedback and use results to implement improvements and enhance the overall student experience. Represent VSCC at relevant Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) in-person and online meetings, ensuring the institution's interests are well-communicated and aligned with statewide initiatives. Prepare and submit reports as required, ensuring compliance with all state and federal regulations and guidelines. Manage and staff the Wellness Suite, ensuring it operates efficiently and provides a welcoming environment for students seeking wellness resources. This includes overseeing the Reset Room, ensuring it is adequately staffed, maintained, and available to students for mental health breaks and relaxation. Coordinate resources, services (to include the food pantry), and wellness activities that promote student well-being. Chair the Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT) while communicating to campus the purpose of the BIT as well as the referral process. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution.Minimum of four years of experience in student services, prevention programs, or related fields.Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in human services, Counseling, Education, or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.Experience in higher education, mental health, or social services.Project management experience, particularly in prevention and support programming.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse student populations, faculty, and staff.Proven ability to design, implement, and evaluate prevention and support programs.Experience in crisis intervention, student counseling, or advising.Commitment to student well-being and working with underrepresented or at-risk populations.Ability to assess program effectiveness and make data-driven decisions for improvements.Experience or training in suicidal ideation intervention is highly desirable.
