For more than 60 years the SAG-AFTRA Health Plan and SAG-Producers Pension Plan (the Plans) have provided health and retirement benefits to thousands of entertainment professionals and their dependents across the globe (Plan Participants). The Plans are currently undergoing a major transformation focused on evolving our operations toward a participant-focused experience. This is a hybrid role, requiring the employees to be in our Burbank office 2-3x/week (or more based on business needs). We are seeking a strategic and creative Manager of Participant Communications to lead our initiatives in internal and external Participant communications, with a focus on delivering exceptional experiences to our valued Participants. The ideal candidate will possess an understanding of our Participants' needs and preferences, achieved through comprehensive Voice of the Participant research and analysis. This will involve employing various methodologies, such as surveys, focus groups, benchmarking, audits, and more, with the help of a research team. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams and external partners, the Manager will play a pivotal role in devising a holistic Participant communications strategy. This will encompass establishing key performance metrics, integrating personas and customer journeys, strategizing branding and communications, and managing our website and Participant outreach through all channels. As the Manager of Participant Communications, you will have the unique opportunity to shape our organization by leveraging insights to enhance satisfaction among our Participants. Essential Job Functions

  • Individual responsibilities:
    • Develops content and directs creative execution to provide a consistent, targeted, and impactful message.
    • Builds and maintains solid partnerships with assigned internal clients to better develop, coordinate, direct, and facilitate strategic communications designed to meet business goals.
    • Designs campaigns to target specific audiences, placing an emphasis and discipline on campaign performance to help with recommendations for future programs.
    • Contributes ideas for new programs, researching and recommending innovative branding techniques.
    • Researches and understands key business challenges, customer behavior, target audiences, competitive activity, and environmental factors that impacts programs within the business and assigned departments.
    • Provides hands-on advertising support for assigned departments, paying close attention to timelines.
    • Identifies and presents opportunities for consistency in messaging and customer experience across channels from websites, mobile apps, newsletters to printed mailings.
    • Develops an understanding of short- and long-term department goals and planned initiatives.
    • Adjusts and communicates plan changes as necessary to ensure costs for materials, media, and labor are in line with the sales potential for a specific product or campaign.
    • Works with leadership to take the pulse of overall business activity to identify cross-marketing opportunities.
    • Stays informed of developments in the field of marketing and communications within the industry to foster ideas and innovation.
  • Management responsibilities:
    • Manage direct reports by setting achievable goals, tracking performance, providing guidance and mentoring.
    • Maintain team roadmap prioritizing and planning a communications calendar to execute each year.
    • Support team yearly team budget including vendor contracts, travel, education, and expenses.
    • Manage external vendors, negotiate contracts, maintain open communication, proactively work with vendors to keep communications fresh and consistent.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business, communications, marketing, or similar.
  • At least 5 years of managing direct reports in digital content creation and communications strategy.
  • At least 7 years of experience in communications strategy and digital content creation.
Knowledge, skills and abilities
  • Experience creating roadmaps/large initiatives and delivering measurable outcomes and impacts.
  • Proven experience in website content management and digital content development including understanding the technical aspects of mobile products and their capabilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including ability to communicate effectively with different levels (Participants, Staff, Executives, Trustees) to persuade, influence, and drive change.
  • Experience being a change agent and ability to energize the team on an ongoing basis, taking steps to remove barriers or accelerate the pace of the work when needed.
  • Excellent analytical, prioritization and problem-solving skills, including the ability to analyze data, draw conclusions, and present recommendations.
  • Solution-oriented approach to build organization wide process improvements for successful implementation of initiatives.
  • Creative, solution-oriented mindset to effectively tackle challenges and obstacles along the way.
