Position is also responsible for ensuring quality products and on time delivery to customers.How You Can Be the ImpactYou will play a crucial role in leading the manufacturing function for our Little Ferry, NJ plant. Your leadership in EHSS, production, maintenance, and quality is essential to our SD catalyst production. Your organization includes four production teams, maintenance and equipment control systems. Engagement with other parts of the Manufacturing team is essential as is interaction with other departments, including R&D, Technology and Commercialization.   • Overall responsibility for the day-to-day operation of a catalyst production plant
  • Primary point of contact all issues related to the catalyst plant's operation. Available at all hours as required
  • Responsible for setting shifts and schedules of production and maintenance personnel
  • Drives a culture of respect and safe work operation
  • Supervise and evaluate performance of production personnel.
  • Drives workplace accountability with direct reports and within the department to meet goals and objectives
  • Assures that safe and cost-effective methods are employed to meet company quality standards, cost objectives, and client delivery schedules. Ensures orders are completed on-time
  • Assures that production volumes requirements are met as planned
  • Manages production scrap and waste to agreed levels
  • Manages production budget to at or below agreed budgetary spend limits
  • Ensure daily and monthly production performance metrics are tracked and shared with VP, Manufacturing
  • Ensures safe operation of equipment in accordance with recognized safety protocols
  • Assures that all manufacturing procedures conform to the SD Quality System
  • Works closely with all areas of the department, developing effective and collaborative relationships
  • Mentors' production staff and provides effective and fair feedback during informal and formal reviews
  • Participates in and initiates projects that can improve the efficiency and/or quality of products manufactured
  • Recommends improvements to upgrade and maintain productivity, efficiency, and quality
  • Responsible for the purchase of raw materials, and inventory and storage of all materials
  • Develop and communicate needs for staffing labor plan adjustments to meet production objectives
What Matters to Scientific Design
  • 7+ years of experience in manufacturing environment (chemical industry preferred) leading both salaried and hourly personnel
  • Bachelor's Degree. Engineering Degree preferred
  • Demonstrable skills in performance management of manufacturing personnel
  • Ability to initiate, organize and lead new and/or improvement projects and programs
  • Strong decision-making skills and a results-driven approach
  • Available off hours to deal with issues as they arise if necessary
