The Manager of Rehabilitation Services role is to manage and supervise Physical Therapists, Physical Therapist Assistants, Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapist Assistants, Speech Therapists, Clinic Receptionists and Therapy Students under the supervision of the Director. The manager is responsible for ensuring proper workflow and management of the therapy areas including, but notlimited to, Inpatient, Acute Rehabilitation Unit and Outpatient Clinics based on the essential functions listed below.

Responsibilities:

Program Management

  • Supervises therapy personnel and manages professional work in the Rehabilitation Services Department.

Employee Development

  • Determines staffing needs as they relate to the number of patients being treated, types of illnesses treated and complexity of treatments given.
  • Completes periodic performance evaluations for all department staff.
  • Completes hiring process, including posting of positions, interviewing and processing new hires.

Budget Management

  • Manage the fiscal responsibility of the Rehabilitation Services Department to include reducing costs and improving productivity.

Basic UPH Performance Criteria

  • Demonstrates the UnityPoint Health Values and Standards of Behaviors as well as adheres to policies and procedures and safety guidelines.
  • Demonstrates ability to meet business needs of department with regular, reliable attendance.
  • Employee maintains current licenses and/or certifications required for the position.
  • Practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA, TJC, DNV, OSHA and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare.
  • Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year.
  • Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse. Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff. Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements

Identify items that are minimally required to perform the essential functions of this position.

Preferred or Specialized

Not required to perform the essential functions of the position.

Education:

Masters of Science degree in Physical, Occupational or Speech Therapy.

Experience:

Proven leadership ability with at least 3-5 years of clinical experience preferred.

License(s)/Certification(s):

Valid drivers license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.

Licensed to practice Physical, Occupational, or Speech therapy in the state of Iowa.

Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification as outlined per policy or obtain certification within three (3) months from date of hire.
