This role manages activities associated with biomedical and/or social-behavioral research studies and special projects considered very complex by the inclusion of several of the following: multiple investigators, teams, sites, sub-contracts, participants, longitudinal assessments/interventions; and/or multi-million-dollar budgets. The Research Programs Manager ensures completion of contract requirements and client specifications. Oversees day-to-day operations including identifying and securing needed resources; creating, implementing, monitoring, and updating project plans; facilitating meetings with appropriate parties; tracking tasks/deliverables to ensure timelines, milestones and/or goals are attained; monitoring and reporting progress as appropriate; and resolving or escalating issues in a timely manner. The Research Programs Manager will advise other research assistants to best support faculty, resident physicians and medical student's research and community engaged projects.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:1. Bachelor's Degree in social or health science or related fieldEXPERIENCE:1. Five (5) years of human subject research experience2. Two (2) years of project coordination experiencePREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:1. Master's degree2. Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) certificationEXPERIENCE:1. Experience writing IRB submission, protocol development, data collection, and data analysis2. Experience writing grant applications and proposals3. Experience developing grant budgets and managing grant fundingCORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Manages research and community engaged projectsMaintains project schedules and calendarsOversees completion of study and project activities per protocolEnsures that study and project protocols are in compliance with appropriate rules and regulations and reviews study and project progress and recommends revisions, amendments, and/or other study and project changes as necessary to better meet needs of sponsorsReviews scientific literature and evaluates and recommends applicable techniques and procedures.May create and/or manage research study and project budget which may include deciding on and approving expenditures of funds based on budget.Purchases project supplies, materials, equipment and servicesDirects, assigns duties to and may supervise study project personnel and research assistantsAssists with academic research, health related program development and community engagementAssists with the editing and preparation of manuscriptsFacilitates services provided to researchers in a broad array of areas including, clinical trials, biostatistics, data analysisAssists in hiring of grant funded research personnelCreates data for use in grant submission and develop new proposals for research including obtaining financial supportEnsures that all study and project documents associated with current local, state, and federal regulatory guidelines, requirements, laws and research protocols are completed in a timely manner.Prepares materials for IRB (Institutional Review Board)Arranges and attends meetings, seminars, symposia and other events related to the core activitiesAttends program related community meetings and performs outreachGathers and analyzes dataContributes to the development of project related web material, educational materials, and social media contentEngages community partners to participate in community engaged research and other health related projectsPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
