Overview:The Respiratory Care Manager shall report directly to the Administrative Director of Cardiopulmonary Services. He/she will oversee the duties of the department supervisors and shall coordinate the work of subordinate personnel engaged in respiratory therapy services on Pediatrics and will fill in on other units as needed. He/she shall ensure quality Resident/patient care at all times.Responsibilities:The Respiratory Care Manager shall oversee care of all ventilator Residents on the Pediatric unit. He/she shall coordinate care and act as liaison between the Pulmonologist / physician and the Respiratory therapist.The Respiratory Care Manager shall oversee the tracheostomy program on Pediatrics and will ensure that care of the Resident with a tracheostomy is adequate.He/she will coordinate ongoing in-service programs through which the Respiratory Therapy staffs' level of education and skills are maintained and new concepts acquired and applied.He/she shall ensure an adequate supply of Respiratory care equipment commensurate with the Resident's acuity levels.The Respiratory Care Manage - Pediatrics shall develop and maintain an effective Infection Control program, which must include staff education on the prevention of nosocomial infections.He/she shall ensure Quality Care of the Ventilator/Tracheostomy Residents through periodic functional audits and will report these findings to the Administrative Director of Cardiopulmonary Services.He/She shall maintain quality control within all areas where respiratory therapy is provided.He/she shall evaluate Residents receiving Respiratory Therapy services and assist the physician in selection of appropriate therapy.He/She shall supervise clinical training experience and in-service staff as needed, as well as provide new employee orientation.He/ She will act as a liaison between Respiratory Therapists and the Administrative Director for Cardiopulmonary Services.During periods of heavy workloads, he/she shall be available to assist staff in carrying out the workload.He/she ensure staff documentation on a daily basis.All other duties as requested.Qualifications:Education:Bachelor's Degree from AMA accredited Respiratory Therapy Program.Master's Degree preferred.Member of the AARC preferred.Experience:Minimum four (4) years experience as a critical care therapist including two (2) in supervisory capacity preferred.Knowledge and Skills:Excellent communication skills; written and verbal.License/Certifications:NYS Licensed Registered Respiratory Therapist, required.BCLS Certification required.ACLS Certification required.PALS Certification preferred.Physical Requirements:Must be able to perform all job functions.Frequent - bending, pushing, stooping, kneeling, pulling, lifting, and walking.Shall have finger dexterity; complete use of hands, arms, and feet.Manual dexterity and mobility to handle instruments and equipment.Requires the ability to enter, retrieve and access information using a computer.Fine manipulation of hands for writing, typing on a keyboard, dialing a phone and using other office equipment.Requires acceptable corrected visual and audio activity.Must have ability to distinguish and identify different colors.Must have ability to judge distance and space relationships#OBH123Pay Transparency:The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and can be modified in the future.
